Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 11

Fatimah.

After driving Qudrah to their house, I drove home and took a warm shower before changing into another outfit and going downstairs to my parents. They had already prepared. Same as Munir, he was standing close to my father with a black suitcase unyielded in his hand.

“Wow, kin hadu” My mother said as she looked me from head to toe. She loved my new outfit.

“Thank you, mum” I said while coyly smiling. I thought my father would also comment on the outfit but he didn’t say anything, he headed out of the mansion with Munir gently trailing him.

“Come here, my baby girl” My mother held my hand, thus we headed out of the mansion too.

According to her, we would use my father’s limousine to the airport and then board an AreaShuttle helicopter to our destinations.

“Great idea, it would be more faster” I said.

“Yeah” She smiled at me.

The chauffeur opened the door for us as he did to my father and Munir, hence we both hopped in and settled down. It was a silent drive to the airport, and then we boarded a helicopter to the factory. Before we landed, the helicopter had circled the burnt factory first for me and my mother to have a clear overview of what happened to the factory.

“I hope you all have seen the kind of work this bastard did to me?” My father had said while pointing a finger at Munir. “It was all his fault!”

“Wallahi uncle Bulama it wasn’t my…”

“Shut up!” My father had yelled at him.

The moment we landed, some agents from the Fire Investigation Bureau (F.I.B) approached us and warmly welcomed us. They were about 13 in number. Their boss handed a document to my father. “Just like I said in the past, the fire wasn’t caused by any electrical appliance. It was the work of a gas from the basement, every detail is in the document sir. But we are still yet to findout how the fire started in the first place” The man said adjusting his facecap.

“Then that means your work is still not done” My father hissed and handed him back the document. “I want to know how exactly the fire started. And if we can retrieve camera footages, Captain, I will be more than happy!”

“I am very sorry sir, but there are no camera footages. All had been ruined” The man said.

“Then keep doing your work!” My father said.

“Okey, sir” The man turned and left.

Thence, my father glared at Munir and hissed at him. “Idan har na gano wanda ya aikata mun wannan abun, even if it is you wallahi sai na ci kwal ubansa. It would be better if you tell me the truth right now, how did the fire started? How did it reach upper floors without you noticing it in time? Tell me!” He exclaimed.

“Ni, wallahi uncle Bulama I don’t know. I was in my office when I started hearing fire alarm. Nima kaina na rude, I was very confused thus I decided to check the down floors. Daga nan kuma sai naga kaina kawai ina gudu, I had to run because the fire was so strong” Munir said.

“Run, right? Zaka sani ai” My father hissed at him again and headed back to the helicopter.

My mother and I followed suit, Munir was the last person to head back and as soon as he was about fastening his seatbelt my father collected the suitcase he was holding and asked him to get out. We all thought he was joking until he pushed Munir out and told him to find his own way home. Hmm, that was absolutely pathetic!

“Alhaji, why?” My mother said through the headphone immediately we were airborne.

“Why what?” My father asked.

“Why did you shun him?” She said.

“I shunned him because he burnt down my cement factory, Raliyah!” He uttered angrily.

“But Alhaji, it wasn’t his…”

“If it wasn’t his fault, whose was it? Yours? Oh, yes I think it was yours! If you had given me a male child I wouldn’t have asked Munir to come to my house talkmore of running my factory. But you, you gave me Fatimah instead. What have I done to deserve this?” He said.

My mother didn’t say anything to him again, but she was very angry. I could tell by the look in her face. She hated it when my father talk like that in front of me, she didn’t want me to feel unwanted but I was already used to it. As soon as we landed in our new factory, she gestured to me not to unfasten my seatbelt. She also didn’t unfasten hers, she was upset.

“Ain’t you guys coming?” My father asked.

“Yes!” She rolled her eyes at him.

“Hmm” He smiled about taking her hand into a clasp when she moved it away from his reach.

“Don’t touch me!” She glared at him.

“Why?” He heaved a sigh and continued. “Is it about what I said earlier? Okey then, I am so sorry. Remember, this trip is all about you…”

“And our daughter, Fatimah!” She cut in.

“Hmm, okey” He uttered and then cleared his throat. “So, can we storm out now? I have relatively a lot to show you in there, babe…”

By the mentioning of babe I bursted into a laughter. Hmm, old people still doing love!

“What’s funny?” My mother glared at me.

“Nothing o!” I huffed fighting the smile on my fragile face. I couldn’t wear it out, so I let it be.

“You better stop smiling” She said.

“Okey, mum” I nodded.

“Good!” She said.

“So, can we go now?” My father chimed in.

“Go where, Alhaji? Calling me your babe is not enough to convince me, after all I am your wife and the mother of your daughter” She uttered.

“Alright then, what should I do to convince you?” He asked wearing a smile on his face.

“I want you to…” She whispered into his ear.

“Fine, lets go!” He said unfastening her seatbelt for her. “And you too, Fati!” He glanced at me.

We went straight into the new factory and the chief engineer ushered us to different places. It was a very big building, more bigger than the old factory. “By the ending of this month, the factory would be able to commence operation after being commissioned…” The man uttered.
