“Am really worried about the girl.” Jidenna commented worriedly, the news of Amanda had reached him the day he wanted to visit her, now seated with Victor and Favour in Victor’s shop where he sells Snacks and provisions ranging from groundnut oil and and fish, the business belonged to his late mother who he took since he was a graduate of unilag, he seared for job close to five months when he was in Lagos, he came back to the village two years ago where he reopened the business him and his only younger sister, Jane is taking care of.

But Jane went to delta state to write her jamb where she stays with a friend leaving only him to run the business. At times Favour and Jidenna comes by to assist him in attending to customers.

Now is one of those when Jidenna thought to tell his friends about what he heard yesterday when going to the hospital.

Favour is Abel’s younger sister who leads a group of cultist round the village which Pius is a member and also the second in command when Abel isn’t a round.

At the time of Amanda’s harassment, Abel had gone to Onitsha accompanied by Olanre, the youngest in the sweet boys gang which they call themselves when in their usual meetings.

Abel is known to be friendly but can be deadly when trampled on, he doesn’t like someone talking shit about him or his sister, the only person he could die for, literally.

Favour was what he lived for and with similar stories to Victor, he is a graduate also from the university of port Harcourt, he couldn’t get a job for two years, he came back to his poor mother and sister when he became notorious, only to those who crossed him.

Pius on the other hand kills people like cockroaches, he always keeps his identity a secret wearing a ski mask to humiliate and disturb the community then go to church on Sunday and ushers people in since he was one of the ushers. He was arrested three days ago as the prime suspect of Amanda’s assault case.

“Why are you worried about her, it’s obvious that that she would be fine. If truly she doesn’t remember her family like you said then she would have a way out before escaping an hospital.” Victor taps his jokingly.

“He is right JD, at least now that the fool has been arrested for sure, this village can rest.” Favour added sipping tea bottle of coke and eating bread which Victor offered to his guests as they sat down with him.

It was a Sunday afternoon and they came to check up on Victor since he didn’t show up in church, they had reached his home, it was bolted shut and they figured he would be at the shop, hopefully he was there talking to a girl they call Kelechi, a very beautiful girl Victor had wishing to date for some time now, luckily she gave him her Facebook username when he asked for her phone number which gently said she couldn’t for now, he was still glad though that he would be chatting with his crush for time to time.

“But Pius really fvcked up big time. Chea I told you let’s report that guy to the police but you said no, that he is going to change. See the change now.” Victor lamented.

“I know, I just still can’t believe Pius will do such a thing.” Jidenna commented as he bow his head a little.

“Well he did, the kids said he had harasses her on the stream and she embarrassed him, he insulted her and the kids and walked away angrily. And it happens that she was suddenly attacked and you say you don’t think he could do such a thing. I pity you oo.” Favour said, her temper rising. She didn’t understand the fact that Jidenna would defend Pius when there we’re eye witness at the scene when he threatened her.

“Calm down Fay. JD na good boy him be even though him dey do stupid things.” He taps her thigh smoothly, she stared angrily at him and he withdrew his hand.

“So have they reported to the police?.” Favour asked him after sometime no one was saying anything.

“Yea, we should wait for 48 hours before declaring her missing. I wonder the day that start following that policy.” Victor starts laughing.

“What’s funny Vicky?.” Favour asked him and he became angry. He doesn’t like someone calling him Vicky, it gets in his skin.

“Favour if na play stop am biko, no make me vex for you oo.” Victor warned pointing a finger to her face.

“See this two inches man oo, comon drop your finger down.” Favour commented while laughing, that always get into Victor’s skin.

“Ashawo.” He cursed and sat down back on the bench.

“I agree, till I old you no go see my thing.” She said still laughing.

“No try me you…”

He was cut short by Jidenna who eyed him a little.

“Victor I don’t like the way you talk to Favour biko stop. No insult woman for my front and Favour no dey argue or insult man, it’s not good for a girl as pretty as you.” He gently said and Favour nodded her head.

“Na you oo JD. Na because you of you.” Victor and Favour smiled, Victor wouldn’t have done anything. She knew that or else he will have to deal with Abel her brother.

Amanda did lose her memory but only the vital or important ones. That’s what retrograde amnesia is all about, forgetting a particular place, some one or people you thought of before passing out.

So that’s the story all about. Dealing with the fact that she no longer have any memory of her family.
