Vicky arrived the hotel earlier than usual. She got the room key and ordered for wine..She was so angry with Pascal and couldn’t wait to lash him with her tongue.

She got into the shower, freshened up and settled down to drink her wine while waiting for Pascal to arrive.

About 20mins later, there was a knock on the door and without waiting for a response, Pascal walked in.

“baby..am sorry am late”

Vicky didn’t reply..she sat there gulping her wine.

Pascal made to touch her and she slapped his hand away.

“Don’t u dare lay that filthy hands on me you idiot! How dare u? I thought u were done with Janne so why did u go back there to apologize to her? Was that the agreement?” Vicky screamed in anger

“You need to calm down and hear me out..”

“Don’t even ask me to calm down! You acted so stupid!!..How could u make out with her? Why?”

“Victoria calm down!!” Pascal shouted in frustration

“And I won’t calm down!!” Vicky shouted back

“OK fine, I had better leave..” Pascal said standing up and heading to the door

Vicky jumped and stood blocking him

“Where do u think you’re going to? Eh?”

“To have some peace since you won’t give me any..for heaven’s sakes you are to calm down so I can explain things to you”

Vicky hissed and sat on the bed.

Pascal sat beside her

“Vicky I love you and you know it..This is all a game to hurt my brother”

“Then what about me? Don’t u know am hurt too?”

“I didn’t mean to..am sorry..but I promise you, once all these is over, You and I would elope together and settle down OK?”

Vicky smiled and kissed him

“I love u so much Pascal, plz don’t break my heart”…

Fauziat went back to her lodge in school the next day without talking to her Father. She was so angry with him for ruining her happiness and she decided not to step foot into the house till he accepted Uche.

She packed her stuffs and walked downstairs where she saw her Father watching movie. She ignored him and starting walking out of the house.

” Fauziat am I too small now that you can’t even see me and greet me?”

She stopped in her tracks

“Good morning” She murmured and made to leave

“Stop right there Young Lady!” He ordered and she froze at the spot and faced him.

“What has come over you? You’re ignoring me because of that ‘inyamiri boy’?? Is this how I brought u up?? Did I train u to be disrespectful??”

“Baba, you have ruined the only thing that makes me happy. How could u? How could u be so hard on someone I love? The only guy I’ve ever loved and wants to settle down with? How could u be so inconsiderate??”

“Now u have to mind the words you use on me..Listen, I did all that because I love you and I have your best interest at heart..Bring any other good Muslim guy to me and I’ll accept him but not that boy please..”

“If you love me Baba, you’d love Uche too..I don’t want any other guy except him” She cried

“Look here ko..you are not serious..I don’t want to ever see you anywhere near that boy if u don’t want to see my true colours..I have my eyes on you..You can go to wherever you wish to..baa ruwana” Alhaji concluded fixing his eyes on the TV.

Fauzi cried and ran out of the house..got into her car and sped off..

Alhaji called Mayor and Jaja

“Mayor, I want you to place your eyes on my daughter..monitor her every moves and make sure you bring me back report. If you see that boy close to her, call me immediately.. Understood?”

“Yes sir!” He said…

Fauziat arrived her lodge in tears and barged into the room.

She sat down on the floor and started crying.

Hadiza ran out and met Fauziat in tears and even though they hadn’t been in good terms, she was moved by her tears.

She got close to her..”Fauzi, what’s wrong? Why the tears??”

Fauziat hugged her tightly and cried profusely.

“Calm down..please..calm down” Hadiza consoled her and helped her up to the sofa where she sat.

She went to the fridge and brought cold orange juice to calm Fauzi.

Fauzi gulped everything down..Hadiza poured in another one for her and she gulped it down again..She became a bit calm.

“Now tell me, what’s the problem?” Hadiza asked concerned

“It’s Baba..he sternly refused my marriage with Uche”

“Hmmm…but Fauzi, I told u this earlier on..I told u that your relationship with that Igbo boy cannot work..I’d have been surprised if Baba had accepted.. You are a Muslim, Baba is even a Sheikh..a well respected one..what will people say if his own daughter gets married to a Christian guy?”

Fauzi sniffed..

“I love him and that’s what matters..we both are ready to do anything to prove them wrong”

“Ok.. May Allah help you both”

“Amin”

The next day, Janne prepared to visit her mom in the village and spend time with her son. She had taken 3 days off from her Office.

She drove to the village and went straight to her Mom’s house.

She honked and her 5 years old son ran out..

“Mummy oyoyo..Mummy oyoyo!!”

Janne carried him up and kissed him.

Her mom came out with her younger sister Jessica.

“Goodevening Mama”

“Welcome my dear” Her mother smiled

“Sister welcome” Jessica greeted her..

“Jessy how are you?..please open the booth and bring out the things I bought there”

She carried her son inside with her mother following her behind and Jessica went over to the booth to bring out the things her sister bought.

After meal that night and Jessy had put Juwon to bed, Janne and Mama sat at the verandah eating corn and boiled groundnuts.

“Mama there’s something I came to discuss with u”

“And what’s that?”

“Jide has been coming around for some time now”

“Which Jide” Mama inquired

“Juwon’s Father”

There was silence as Mama thought hard and long.

“So what did he say he want?”

Janne’s face dropped

She didn’t know where to start explaining to her mother.

“He wants to see Juwon..He also said he wants me back and then again, he said his Dad wants to meet with me and my son”

“Hmmm..did he explain the reason for his disappearance for years?”

Janne explained the story Jide had told her and also the one that Pascal her.

“Mama am confused, I don’t know who to believe. And then again I’ve been in a relationship with Pascal without knowing that he is Jide’s younger brother..”

Mama sighed “Janne, the only way to find out the truth is to honour his Father’s invitation.. With that way, you’d be able to know if he truly was sent out by his Father or he eloped with his lover like his brother said”

Janne nodded in agreement.

“You’re very correct Mama..very correct..and I’ll do so..but do u think it’s right if I take Juwon along?”

“Why not? The young boy is eager to see his Father and no one has the right to deny him of that..”

“OK ma…thanks a lot for the advice..
