I and Ugochukwu went out of the hospital, I drove to the beach were Veronica and I had been to before she left for the State quietly.

I parked the and stepped out of the car passing the crowd having party at the beach then settled before the waters.

I sat down and stared up at the crimson moon bathing it silvering light on the water, it was so beautiful that I wished my life could be that way without too many heartbreaking dramas.

I got up and we left the beach it was late already and we had to meet three checkpoints on our way to his house and we paid to get through.

Shantel was at the balcony when we got out of the car, we went inside the house to see her descending from the staircase with her nightie.

Ugochukwu: baby, you never sleep?

I met Ugochukwu in the sitting-room relaxing while watching television.

We had our breakfast and left for the hospital, we had to meet the doctor in his office to talk about Veronica’s condition.

Me: Doc, how far?

Doctor: she still dey coma but…

Doctor: yes.

Ugochukwu: gentlemen, shall we?

We all stood up while he led the way to were Veronica is, both of them stood at the door while I was told to go in.

I opened the door and stepped in watching her lying on the bed with different kind of life support machine broke my heart.

I didn’t even know what to do as I stared at her, she look so vulnerable in the state she is now. The fearless and stubborn lady in her was all gone, I sat by her side and watched her pale face expecting her mouth to open by magic.

Me: why you nodey talk again? why you no wan wake? is not easy watching you sleep. You know say I don buy our ring, when you go wake up so that I go propose to you? no bother unromantic girlfriend, will you marry me? answer me na.

I got up from the seat and moved away from the bed facing the door, I haven’t moved three steps when I turned back and saw her fingers moving.

Me: doctor! she don wake!! nurse!! I scream happily

Ugochukwu was first to enter followed by a nurse, who asked us to leave so that they can attend to Veronica.

I stood at the hallway pacing around with so much energy and gladness, peeping inside the room but couldn’t get any clear view.

Ugochukwu: calm down now.

Me: the joy no gree calm down.

Some minutes later the doctor came out with smile on his face.

Doc: your wife has God, she so strong to come out from coma in short time. She is resting now, few days from now she will be fine.

Me: thank you, thank you.

Doc: thank God

The doctor left I and Ugochukwu.

Ugochukwu: what of Alicia?

Me: come make we go kidnap her.

I was in a good spirit that morning, so I just marched out of the hospital senseless into the car.

He used his palm to touch my head.

Me: guy, why?

Ugochukwu: you well so? You go just enter Governor house carry her commot, pass those police checkpoint till you drop her for that house.

Me: oh! I don forget say kidnapping na illegal.

Ugochukwu: I see am like that.

Me: you go call her, tell her say you wan see her. Mention eatery so that she no go suspect anything, propose house and fifteen million naira make she no scatter your wedding on Saturday.

Then you go tell her say if she get chance you go show her the house now now, then we go jack am go that place then put am something wey go make her sleep, pay some thugs to hold her hostage.

Ugochukwu: good idea, so make I call her now?
