Chris ➡ tell me? She’s what?

Stephanie ➡ She’s in the hospital, her mother saw her trying to stab herself to death, she’s looks awful, it doesn’t look like she going to make it.

Chris ➡ What? What happened to her?

Stephanie ➡ She’s been miserable ever since she saw you, since then she hasn’t been the same, she hasn’t been picking calls, and has locked herself at home and today, I just found out that her shops got burnt, because of that she tried to Commit suicide.

Chris ➡ Jesus!!!

Stephanie ➡ I don’t want her to die, Chris! She’s miserable and hurt, She needs help! She needs support.

Chris ➡ Don’t worry, I’m on my way!

Dolores ➡ What’s wrong?

Chris ➡ its Elizabeth, she’s in the hospital!

Dolores ➡ is she okay?

Chris ➡ I hope so, I have to go see her, its my fault she’s like this!

Dolores ➡ I’ll come with you!

We soon left and went to the hospital, Why did she tried to kill herself? Why? All this time I thought she was mad at me, she was trying to end her life, I have to see her and make things right, I can’t lose her, not now!

We soon arrived at the hospital and there was Stephanie sitting in the lobby, She saw us and quickly came towards us.

Chris ➡ Where is she? I need to see her.

Stephanie ➡ She’s in the room sleeping, the doctor did some tests on her, you’ll have to wait.

Chris ➡ God please let her be okay, I won’t forgive myself if she dies.

Dolores ➡ Stop that man, she won’t die, let’s pray for her recovery! Stop being a b---h.

Stephanie ➡ Let’s go sit down, there’s her mother.

We went and sat in the lobby, Elizabeth and mother sure looked alike, She sat down with a worried look on her face, She was disarrayed by what she saw, I can’t blame her though, its hard to watch your only child try to end her life! I sat close to her and introduced myself.

Chris ➡ Evening ma!

Beatrice ➡ Hmm, evening my son, how are you?

Chris ➡ I’m fine ma, its an honor to meet you!

Beatrice ➡ Thank you young man! Please who are you?

Chris ➡ My name is Chris, and I’m your daughters boyfriend!

Beatrice ➡ Boyfriend?? So you’re the man responsible for breaking my daughter’s marriage, abi?

Chris ➡ No, ma…. I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Beatrice ➡ You don’t know? If you’re the reason my daughter is in this predicament, I’ll curse you.

Stephanie ➡ Mama, there’s no need for that, Chris is not responsible for Elizabeth condition.

Beatrice ➡ Please, no woman would kill herself just like that, there must be a reason! And the answer is obvious, Men!

Chris ➡ Please ma! Its not like that, I love Elizabeth with all my heart, I was even thinking about proposing to her!

Beatrice and Stephanie ➡ Propose???

Chris ➡ Yes, I want to marry your daughter! I truly love her, and it would an honor to have your blessing!

Beatrice ➡ You want to marry my daughter?? Are you serious?

Chris ➡ Truly ma!

Beatrice ➡ Well, if she accepts your proposal, then you can have my blessing!

Chris ➡ Thank you ma!

As we were talking the nurse came towards us and our attention turned towards her, I prayed silently, for Elizabeth’s recovery.

Stephanie ➡ Nurse, is she okay?

Nurse ➡ Ohh, she’s fine, she’s even awake you can see her now.

Beatrice ➡ Oh God thank you for saving my daughter, Oya let’s go!

We all rushed into towards the room, As we were about to enter, Stephanie halted me and told me to stay outside so she could talk to Elizabeth!

I agreed and waited for them, it wasn’t long before, Stephanie and Elizabeth’s mother came out and asked me to enter alone.

Whew!!! This is going to be tough.

After a while, I woke up feeling quite relaxed and okay, my visions were blurry and everywhere was white, I could hardly see a thing, I felt cool air and thought I was in paradise!

As soon as my vision were clear, I realized I was in a hospital, I was baffled, why was I here? I tried remembering but I couldn’t, What happened to me? The more I tried to remember the more I failed, so I gave up trying to remember and relaxed on my bed.

A bit later, The door opened and there was Stephanie and my mom, I was so happy to see them, they looked worried and happy at the same time, what was really going on?

Elizabeth ➡ Stephanie, what’s going on?

Stephanie ➡ Oh Ellie, i’m glad you’re okay I was worried you weren’t going to make it.

Elizabeth ➡ What are talking about?

Stephanie ➡. don’t you remember?

Elizabeth ➡ No, mama what’s going on?

Beatrice ➡ Ungrateful child, why do you choose to punish me like this ehn?

Elizabeth ➡ Mama! What are you saying?

Beatrice ➡ You tried to kill yourself with a knife! I came to your house and to my surprise, I saw you standing in the middle of your parlor with a knife in your hands, thank God, you fainted at that moment if not I would have witnessed your death.

Elizabeth ➡ Mama but I……….

As if I was struck by lightning, my head started to hurt and the memories came back flooding into my head, I remembered everything, all of it, every last one.

I felt sorry, not for myself but for my mom, whom I put in a tight situation and I also regretted what I did to Stephanie, she was my friend and she even saved my life once but treated her unfairly, I started crying and apologized to the both of them.

Elizabeth ➡ I’m sorry, Mama, please forgive me.

Beatrice ➡ Ahh, my daughter you’re always forgiven, please don’t ever do that again, you’re the only thing keeping me going.

Elizabeth ➡ Thank you mama,…….. Stephanie I’m also sorry, I shouldn’t have treated you like this.

Stephanie ➡ its okay I know you didn’t mean it, besides what are friends for?

We hugged tightly together, it was nice having people care about me so much, I really should pay more attention and get to hang with people more often.

Stephanie ➡ Uhmm, Elizabeth there’s someone here to see you!

Elizabeth ➡ Who?

Stephanie ➡ Don’t worry, its a surprise.

They left the room and before long, Chris entered! I was surprised! What in the world was he doing here? He’s the last person I expect to see.

Chris ➡ Hi love, how are you feeling?

Elizabeth ➡ What are you doing here?

Chris ➡ I came to see you.

Elizabeth ➡ Well, I don’t want to see you, Get out.

I turned around and started shedding tears, Why was I sending him out? I liked that he came to see me but something in me wants him to leave and never see him again.

He came close to me and touched me, I could feel the warmness of his body, I turned around and saw his face , There was sincerity and remorse.

Chris ➡ Look, I know you’re angry at me, and I don’t blame you, even I would have done the same but I want you to know Dolores and I did nothing of that sort, She’s just a good lesbian friend of mine and I’m the only male she acknowledges.

I love you Elizabeth, ever since I saw you, not a day goes by that I don’t think about you, I’m a village hustler and I’ve seen my share of women and I’ve never seen any lady that is as lovely as you are.

I want you, not as Elizabeth, not as the fashion designer but I love you for you, I want to be by your side forever and ever and whoever you go, I’ll follow you like your own shadow!

I promise I’ll try my best to make you happy, I may not be rich but I’ll take care of your needs and I’ll always be there for you.

Elizabeth ➡ What are u saying?

Chris brought a funny looking ring from his pocket and went down on knees, I couldn’t believe this was happening? Chris is going to propose to me?

Chris ➡ Will be my wife Elizabeth? I don’t have a diamond ring ? now but I’ promise to buy you one when we get married!

It was romantic but I didn’t say a word, I couldn’t believe this? Here was Chris on his knees proposing to me, Was it worth it spending my life with him? Can I trust him? What if he betrays me like Clement did? I thought about what he said and looked at his face , He was sincere! I may never know what may happen tomorrow so I better seize my chance and have faith.

Elizabeth ➡ All my life, I’ve worked hard, did everything in my power to achieve success, and I got it but everything I’ve worked for came crashing down my head, and I thought my life was meaningless and wanted to end my life. But I realised something,that’s how life is, nothing ever goes smooth, but the most important thing I learnt is no matter how successful you are and you don’t have people that care for you,or you care for, you’re still a loser, despite the fact, I was in my miserable condition, I have people that care still cared about me.

I love you Chris, ever since you came, and thanks to you, you’ve made my life worthwhile, Because of you, I was free from a long burden and as for your proposal I accept, I’ll be your wife.

Chris’s face lit with happiness, he grabbed me and gave me a warm kiss, It was romantic, we were finally one with each other, we were so engrossed in our moment we didn’t notice, Our friends inside the room.

Dolores ➡ Wow! That’s sensual.

Chris ➡ Dolores what are you doing in here? Give us some privacy.

Stephanie ➡ This is so romantic. I’m happy for you Elizabeth!

Beatrice ➡ So are you both getting married? Cause I would love to see my grandkids before I die.

Elizabeth ➡ Mama! So soon?

We all laughed at mama’s expense, A bit later, the doctor came into the room, putting a dent on our conversation.

Doctor ➡ Evening everyone!

Chris ➡ So what’s the report?

Doctor ➡ Well, she’s okay, but she has been under pressure and anxiety, and considering her condition she really needs to take her time and rest for a while.

Beatrice ➡ Condition? What condition?

Doctor ➡ Madam, your daughter is a months pregnant.

Elizabeth ➡ What? Pregnant?

As soon as the doctor said that, Everyone in the room looked at Chris….

(Omniscient P. O. V)

A month after that, Chris and Elizabeth got married, it was a memorable one, they did both the christian and traditional wedding, everyone blessed the happy couple and wished them a happy married life.

After the wedding, They both settled down in Chris’s new house, Chris worked hard to provide and cater for his wife, Elizabeth and after some months, Elizabeth gave birth to a girl and they both named her happiness! And it was the perfect name for their child considering how they both suffered and struggled to make it in life, and in the end, they finally found their happiness.

You may all be wondering about the others well, things did turn out well for them.

Dolores and Elizabeth settled their differences and became good friends and with the money she got from Chris, she opened a telecommunications store selling all kinds of phones and other stuff, within a year she got rich.

Clement Elizabeth’s ex husband opened a small business with the little he had but as fate would have it, he and Chris met once again, Chris felt sorry for his condition and doubled the money, he once gave him to sleep with his wife, Chris advised him to use the money to start a new life, everyone deserves a second chance.

Elizabeth’s business too also opened again, thanks to her now husband, he gave her enough money to revive her business, and in the end, her design which didn’t get approved was finally used on a model and got her reputation back once again but this time she spent more time on family than her business.

In the end, everyone got what they wanted for some it may not be what they hoped for but it was better than nothing!
