*Bernice became a very close friend of mine from that day.
We started learning together in class, something most of the guys found hard to believe.
I used to escort her to the ladies’ dormitory after devotion most of the days way back in College.

I remember there was one particular guy who used to stalk Bernice back then.
She once told me I shouldn’t worry because she had nothing doing with that senior.

She confessed that he proposed once to her but she turned him down.

With that,i knew I had a chance to try mine too but I was too scared she would turn me down too,breaking my record.
No woman has ever turned me down when I proposed to her.
I told a couple of guys who advised me to make a move very quickly before someone else makes such a sterning move.

I was encouraged by my friends to be bold and spilt it out,so I decided to call Bernice on phone to tell her that I wanted to discuss something important with her.

*I called her one evening only to tell her of my discussion with her and she replied by saying,”let’s make it tomorrow after devotion(night prayers after preps).

*The night was a little bit cold sending thrills to my body. I knew I had a task ahead of me that night.

I planned everything I would say during the day. I couldn’t even concentrate on learning anything that night during preps.

*As I walked with her down the street after devotion she asked me, “dear you wanted to discuss something with me remember? “.

I knew I had to open up to her that very instant but didn’t know how to start. I gathered my last courage and started ratling.

“Bernice,you and I have been good friends like two months now. “I have learnt to know you very well now,what you like and dislike,as you have learnt to know me too.

U’ve shown me love, care ,affection and all a guy would ever want from a pretty damsel like you.

“This past few months, I haven’t seen you with any guy… Let alone date one.”I want you to be my girlfriend,that’s if you would find me worthy.
“I know I have nothing to offer you,but I promise you one thing, that I would love and cherish you for just who you are.

“I would never cheat on you,should you accept me as your guy….I looked into her eyes as I spoke my heart out to her,after which I expected a reply …
