Cheaters - S01 E03

Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 3

I pulled Ben by the shoulder and whispered to him, “we need to talk dude”…’Alright to my room then’, he replied…
He dragged me as we walked to his room…

No sooner had he dragged me than we bumped
into the lady he had a grudge with the previous night.
She gave us a wirld look and chuckled,”mmmmttttcccchhhheeeww
I grasped Ben’s hand immediately
because I knew he was up for a fight.

“Just ignore her okay”,I pleaded.He stood still,hissed and said, “you should have allowed me to slap her”.
“You know how some ladies can tempt you to do something nasty you would regret doing,besides we are not even a month old in this College, what will you say to your parents
back home should the principal send you packing?”,I asked him. “Alright,Eve…let’s not pass where she’s heading”,He said dragging me and changing the root almost at the same time.

*We got to his room,saw many people there…some seniors playing FIFA on a laptop,so he suggested we went to sit under a tree near the famous crocodile pond beside the Hostel block. “Uncle Kofi”,is the name of the crocodile.
It got its name by one of the Roman priests.

“Uncle Kofi”,is about forty five years old because it was sent to the College few years after the institution of the College.
we used to scrub the pond back then in first year,with “Uncle Kofi still in the pond, but no-one dared to enter the pond when it was hungry,let alone scrub the pond.

Anyway,I never took part in any of such scrubbing because I feared for my legs.

It wasn’t as if it would feed on my legs though,but because I was terrified of its needle teeth.

I quiet remember it
scrapped the crocodile perfect’s hands during our time of honour in second year,something it did most seldomly. Something the crocodile wouldn’t do to a familiar person like the “CCP”…. (College Crocodile Perfect). He was rumoured to be drunk on that faithful Thursday.

He got into the pond and
started playing with the crocodile.Maybe “Uncle Kofi” was hungry or better still provoked by his drunkenness…He made a leap on him and gave him a tattoo on the hand.

The crocodile feeds on frogs hunted
to it by first year students
mostly on Saturdays.
It also feeds on any life animal including snakes, fowls to mention but few.

One unforgettable memory I have of ‘Uncle Kofi’,is that…. It never ate a pregnant frog when it was placed in the,”Pond of no return”…….
*We walked to the pond which had a bench under a tree,sat down and begun the ‘boy’s talk’…
