Waziri took me to a very powerful herbalist in Benin.

The man was old and unkempt. His little hut was located in the centre of a very thick forest which according to him, was once an evil forest.

The man was busy gathering some leaves outside and behind his hut when we arrived.

Waziri had been to the man’s place some months ago and already had the “Odeshi” amulet but the oldman didn’t recognise him.

Waziri showed the oldman the Odeshi amulet he wore round his neck and the man burst into laughter.

“You’ve been here before?” He asked.

“Yes,” Waziri replied. “I want you to cook my friend the same way you cooked me.” He added.

The oldman turned towards me and smiled. I didn’t know what to do in return; whether to smile back or continue frowning. I was scared but didn’t show it.

“Follow me,” the oldman directed walking into his hut.

Waziri and I followed the oldman.

The hut was empty with only a chair and a mat inside. We entered and stood quietly. I looked around the interior of the very old hut and wondered whether here was really where the oldman slept.

“Wait for me here,” the oldman directed and disappeared before my very eyes.

I never really believed in voodoo till this one happened before my very eyes and scared the living hell out of me.

Waziri wasn’t moved as he was already used to the experience. He noticed my perplexion and explained the situation to me.

“He’s gone to the spirit world to get the amulet for you,” Waziri explained.

I nodded my head fearfully in concurrence.

Just then the oldman reappeared and just as Waziri had explained, had the amulet in his right hand.

“Now get ready for the main ritual,” the man said facing me.

Waziri directed me to remove all my clothing as the ritual could only be performed on the nude body.

As soon as I took off my clothes, I lost consciousness…

I didn’t know what happened again or how the ritual was performed because all happened while I was still unconscious.

When I regained consciousness, the “Odeshi” amulet was already in place round my neck and Waziri and the oldman was sitting beside me on the mat and staring at me in anticipation of my return to consciousness.

As soon as my eyes fluttered open, the man nodded his head in concurrence as Waziri smiled.

“Now let’s test our new amulet,” he announced as Waziri drew his pistol.

My heart jumped into my mouth as I stared at the nozzle of the gun.

“Gbowam!” Waziri released the first shot.

It didn’t enter.

“Gbowam!” He released the second.

It still didn’t enter.

“Gbowazam!” He released the third.

The bullet still didn’t enter.

All I felt were sensations asif something touched me.

Nothing painful or detrimental as a bullet would.

Alas, the Odeshi was tested and certified potent and I wore back my clothes and dropped some money for the spirits before leaving with Waziri.

The Odeshi amulet added additional finesse to my power and ruthlessness as a military and the two class of people that felt my brutality the most were armed robbers and street prostitutes…
