After the incident that happened to me, I went home atleast to go settle my head, seriously this is the bad side of Lagos, can’t they just consider that I can’t come to eat without not holding money, they should understand that the money truly lost. But thank God for the Samaritan guy that paid for the fee, I surely would have died by now, I touched my ear who seems to be hurting, God will judge you people i said as i went to the bathroom to go wash my face, but what’s wrong with me self, why is everything always not going fine for me, I can’t imagine me asking Emeka for another pocket fee I groaned. Later that evening Emeka came back from work after eating and talking he told me due to the fact that most companies here in Lagos just recruit new staffs and members that i will have to hold on for a while, though he had helped me submitted my CV to most of the company which they all promised to call when there’s any vacancy.

The news wasn’t really good for me but then i don’t have any choice, I told him everything that happened to me earlier that morning, but I was surprised to see him laughing, can’t you be serious, they almost kill me if not for a guy that paid my fee I screamed. Well Stanley this is Lagos, you need to be wise he said in conclusion. This was all that happened that day.

The following day Emeka went to work as usual but this time he gave me #2000 .. I was happy to have it at least I can use it to buy anything i needed, then Emeka words keep pounding on my head. “This is Lagos, you need to be wise” nobody would ever try to take this from me again not even anyone I said to myself.

This was all that was running on my head when my phone rang. I picked it up after ringing the second time, I checked the number but it was unknown number. Hello I’m Ekechuku from your bank, I called to tell you that there’s a problem with your bank verification number, if you don’t mind can you send me the number to help you verify the number, a voice said immediately I picked up.

I quickly rushed to where i saved the number, I called it for him, then he later asked for my bank. Union bank I answered. After series of questions , he told me to go send #5000 to the account which he sent to me, I don’t have that with me i said, how much do you have, #2000 I replied, okay go to any sending and receiving money agent and send it, I will help you add the remaining money to it he said. Okay I replied before the line went off.

I quickly went to an agent shop close to Emeka house, I send the #2000. So later i tried calling him back to tell him i have sent it and again to thank him for adding momey to help me get the transaction done. The number you dial is switched off.

This is what that I have been hearing sine then. After about an hour time, my phone rang again, I quickly grabbed it thinking its the same guy maybe his phone went off due to shortage of battery, but this time it wasn’t him, it was Afeez the guy that helped me yesterday, hello sir, thanks for yesterday I said, after talking for a while, he asked me if i can come to his house which isn’t too far to me after i have told him where i stay, but since i don’t no anywhere, he sent me the address which I later went to meet him that same morning.

Well after i left him that yesterday, i don’t know why my spirit just like him, maybe i can help him i said to myself. The following day, I decided not to go anywhere and the reason was because i want to meet him, I picked my phone as i dial the number he gave me, he picked up immediately after it rang, guess he must have been expecting a call before, i said to myself, after some talking, i told him to join me here, I was surprised that where he claimed that he stays wasn’t really far to me, just two hundred naira bike will take him here. I sent him the address which he promised to come.

After about an hour, he came in, we greeted for a while before i start talking, so what are you up to now, like what do you do for living i asked him. I was surprised to hear that he got no work, but how come fine bobo like you no con see work to do i tease. Naso the country be o. Then he told me about a guy that called earlier that morning claiming his calling from his bank, but the most painful part is the part that he still went ahead to send the remaining 2k with him to the guy. This guy is truly JJC. Anyway that guy is a scam I said to him, no bank uses number like this to call their customers, I saw him look at me like, I’m out my senses , I laughed why not call the number again i teased. The number isn’t going through again he replied.

That’s because they’re done with you and I’m very sure they have broken the SIM card I said while laughing. anyway that’s gone. So do you have any plans, like do you mind if we work together. I saw him sat everywhere, I can do anything if you will help me he said, anyway i want to help you but you will need to help yourself first I told him, okay but what do you do he ask. well i supply goods from here to other State outside this country.

Really he screamed, seriously i can do anything for you, throughout that conversation i got to know that he’s a B.SE in Business Admin holder. I smile but why not apply to other big company i teased, he told me he had tried all possible best but all isn’t just working. This is what Lagos could offer graduates, if he knows that i myself I’m a master degree holder from University of Lagos but when one thing turns you down, you look for another means. I told him to come the following day so we can go out together. He was excited to hear that, after talking and gisting, he left home that evening.
