Ebonyi Neighbourhood Watch Operatives Arrest Four Suspects For Transformer Theft (Photos)

Four suspects who specialise in vandalizing and stealing transformers across various regions of the country, have been arrested by the Neighbourhood Watch operatives in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The suspects who are said to be from the South South Zone of the country, were apprehended on Thursday morning, April 18, 2024, while attempting to lift a transformer in the Akpoha area of Afikpo.

Luck ran out on the suspects when the Neighbourhood Watch team, led by its commander, Mr. Michael Urom (Acho Paddy), caught the suspects in the act.

It was gathered that the gang included a fleeing accomplice who hails from Akpoha.

Commander Urom seized the moment to reinforce the importance of community vigilance.

“It is alleged that they came in the company of an indigene of Akpoha who is currently at large,” he said.

He urged the public to report any suspicious persons or suspicious moves to security agencies for prompt action, adding that such cooperation is crucial for curbing crimes in the community.

The suspects have been handed over to the police for further interrogation and prosecution.
