They didn’t mind if they were walking on the major road, joy quickly stopped a taxi and it drove off to God’s know where. Gabriel tried running after it but it was of no use, he fell now on his knees and wept, he was still on the major road. People had now hopped down from their cars to take pictures of him, its very rare to see the Youngest prof in Benin city, but this time it is not just about seeing him, but seeing him embarrassing himself on the road. Part of the crowd were his students, of course it is these student that will take pictures of him and go to net the next day to write things like ” The famous prof Gabriel of the famous Mr Green college of education, Benin city is now mad ” . But at that point in time, Gabriel didn’t care whatsoever happens, he still knelt on the road crying as cars drove pass him in speed. It was after about thirty minutes that he got up and entered into his car, he didn’t drive off, he stayed in it still crying. He later drove off and then the crowd dispersed. He drove off to his house,the gateman himself was surprised because he had never seen him drive with so much speed, often times he had heard him shout at madam to stop driving at high speed but here he is today, driving above 60km/hr. Gabriel kicked the door to the car open, this got the gate man more startled. ” Oga welcome ” he greeted but was shocked when he got no reply, this was unusual of his Master. Gabriel walked slowly inside and fell into a couch, he then brought out his phone and put a call through to Joy, but the call wasn’t answered. He tried up to twenty times but all to no avail. ” Francis!!!!!!!!” He shouted at the top most of his voice and about five minutes the gateman ran inside. ” Oga u don forget say my name na Frank no be Francis” he said in pidgin English, he was smiling. ” Do you want to lose your Job?” Gabriel asked him while he shook his head. ” Then don’t come here again.” He said and almost immediately, the gate man tan outside. Gabriel picked his phone again, this time he put a call to Francis. ” Hello professor Gabriel, are you…” He was saying before he got interrupted. ” Francis, I want you to go report that video recorder to the police ” Gabriel said. ” Did I hear you right?” Francis asked as he was now confused and scared. ” I said you should go report that video to the police or I report it myself, and get ready to tell them what you were doing in my lab that night.” Gabriel said again . ” Gabriel, I only came to visit my friend that night.” He said in a shaking voice. ” Oh, let’s see if the Nigerian police believes that and also explain how you knew the recorder was in my lab if you didn’t plant it there to implicate me. ” he said and put an end to the call. ” Gabriel, Gabriel..”

Francis called but got no reply, he stared at the phone and then realized it had been cut off. ” Oh,I am doomed” he said to himself placing his both hands on his head. ” I must act fast. “ He said again to himself as he knew his game is almost up. Gabriel on his side knew he couldn’t report to the police, of course Nigeria police won’t believe him. He tried calling Joy number again but still, she didn’t pick.

Detective Akpan walked into his office, he was wearing a black suit. He tried bending down to drop his briefcase but the pain he was feeling in his waist region didn’t permit him. His wife iniobong was just a working machine, she had had him over and over again the night before even when he tried telling her he was tired, she will reply by saying she wasn’t yet satisfied and then she would go another round with him, if not that he was a strong man, he should have been a dead man now. ” Oh, and my friends warned me not to marry a calabar girl o but I didnt answer them.” He said to himself as he tried twisting his waist. ” Iniobong is a killer ” he said again before finally seating on the chair. He opened some files to begin the day’s work but closed it some minutes later, ” This waist won’t allow me do anything ” he said as he relaxed his back on the chair thinking about the night before, he could soon be seen smiling to himself and biting his lips.
