DESPERATE PLIGHT (Travails Of a hero ) - Season 1 - Episode 23

RICHARD’S RESIDENCE
(SITTING ROOM)
:
Jane swallowed hard in pains and watched as the lady walked up to her husband and hug him tight. She felt very bad as she stood up while Ella stood up and folded her arms in anticipation as she watched the drama unfold.
“Who is she Richard?” Jane asked but Richard only stood and stared, unable to utter a word. On one hand, he felt like pushing Lucy so hard that she would stagger and fall forcefully but on the other hand, he felt like holding her tight and kissing her.

“I asked a question please,” Jane said in a pleading tone..

“Don’t worry I will introduce myself,” Lucy smiled and released Richard, then turned to face Jane, “Well I’m Lucy,” then as an afterthought added, “I’m here to see Richard, my husband to be.”

“What! Husband to be?” Ella and Emmy exclaimed in shock and stared at the father.

Richard felt very stupid and wished ground would just open up and swallow him coz he couldn’t bear the shame…

MR DAVIDSON’S RESIDENCE
THELMA’S ROOM
:
Mr Davidson and his wife walked into their daughter’s room through the already opened door and sat on the bed beside her.

“Thelma,” his father called and put his hand across her shoulder but Thelma didn’t answer.

“Thelma, talk to us please,” the mother pleaded and rubbed her back lovingly.

“It’s Lucy,” Thelma blurted out while the father smiled coz he knew what she was going to say.

“What about Lucy?”

“She didn’t die in the war and might be against me now,” Thelma sobbed.

“Worry not dear,” The father said. “I’ve got my plans.”

Thelma was surprised, “Plans? What plans father?” she wanted to know.

“Don’t worry, lets go back to the dining room coz am very hungry,” he said and stood up, then walked out of the room.

Thelma’s mother sighed in relief and pulled her daughter into her arms. “It’s alright dear, I trust your father and hes always right,” she smiled and kissed her forehead.

Thelma smiled a bit and held her tight, “I love you too mum,” she said happily…

BACK TO RICHARD’S HOUSE
SITTING ROOM
:
Jane narrowed her almond-shaped eyes at Lucy as her heart was filled with rage and hatred. She wished she could just hold her hand and throw her out of the house but she couldn’t find the courage to do so. “Welcome!” she said instead.

“Welcome to where?” Ella asked and unfolded her arms as she walked up to Lucy.

“To hell on earth of course,” Emmy laughed a bit and also walked up to Lucy. Then he held her arm in his small palm and pushed her roughly which made her stagger and hit her leg on the centre table.

Lucy stared at Emmy in anger and turned to Richard, “You never told me your children are this manners and stupid,” Lucy fumed in anger.

“Please choose your words wisely madam,” Ella said.

“Leave our house this minute,” Emmy shouted in his small voice.

Jane’s mouth opened wide in shock like someone who just ate hot cocoyam. “When did you children become so bold?” she asked rhetorically but audible enough for everyone to hear.

Ella smiled, “Ever since when we were rescued from the kidnappers,” she said without looking at her mother.

Emmy just smiled and faced Lucy again in anger, “Please leave our house right away.”

Jane couldn’t take it anymore, so she completely lost it, “Both of you should get inside your rooms now,” she said angrily.

“No mother,” Ella said almost shouting. Then to Lucy, “With all due respect ma, please leave our house,” she shouted while Lucy just stared mouth agape, wishing Richard would say something instead of standing to stare like a statue.

Jane was dumfounded. “What has come over this children!” she thought angrily. Just then the door opened and Tega walked and pulled a gun from his back trouser pocket without even caring to close the door behind him.

“Tega!!!” Lucy screamed in shock. “Why did you follow me?” she asked but Tega ignored her and walked up to Richard. Standing infront of Richard, he pointed the gun directly at his forehead.

Jane ran to her children and clutched them in her arms fearfully

“Stop this madness Tega,” Lucy shouted but Tega ignored her and cocked the gun.
Richard melted in fright as he stared at the gun. “Will I end this way?” he thought wordlessly…
