Cynthia and Nath were standing opposite each other holding hands and staring into each there’s eyes. Cynthia heartbeat increased but her legs stood firm on the floor. Nath could see her lips shaking to say something hoping it would be a positive response. Just as Cynthia wanted to say her mind, their phones rang at the same time, then they disengaged their hands and headed to the location of their ringing phones. Cynthia neglected her’s because the caller was Emmanuel while Nath picked his which was Joyce’s call. So Cynthia watched and listened to him.

Nath could hear Joyce sniffing in tears on the phone then he wondered why. “Hello” he said but Joyce kept sniffing without responding. “Are you okay?”
“I’m not okay, Nath”

“What is the pro.. and why are you crying?”

“My heart and my life wants to turn around for bad”

“I don’t get you”

“How could you get me when you don’t know how i feel?” Joyce sniffed again in tears but Nath remained quiet. He glanced at Cynthia who was seriously staring at him and listening but averted his eyes from her. “Can i see you tomorrow so as to explain what the problem is?” Joyce requested.

“Is okay, no problem. But please, stop crying”

[B] “Thanks” The line went dead.

Nath looked at Cynthia hoping they start from where they stopped but Cynthia asked, “Why is she/he crying?”
“Who?”
“The person that called you”
“Uhm.. she wouldn’t tell me” Nath replied.

Just then his phone rang again, so he glanced at Cynthia before picking it as a way of saying: Excuse me.

“Hello, this is Agatha”
“I.. i don’t..”

“The one that told you to come repair my Daddy’s car”

“Oh, i remember now”

“So, can you make it tomorrow?” Agatha asked but Nath remained silent remembering that Joyce would be coming tomorrow.

“Uhm.. why can’t we make it next tomorrow?” he asked.

“Why?”
“I’ll be very busy tomorrow”
“Okay then, next tomorrow”
“Alright” the line went dead once again.
Cynthia phone rang again then she quickly picked it because it was her mother who told her to come home immediately. She hang up the call and picked up the bag once again then said, “I have to be going home now. My mother needs me”

“Uhm.. okay” Nath moved forward to open the door looking disappointed for not receiving a reply from her. Of course Cynthia noticed it but didn’t say a word as she walked out followed by Nath. “I’m sorry, the mood has been ruined” she thought.

As Nath was escorting her back to her house silently, he glanced at her and said, “I guess your mother is calling you because of your suitor”

“I don’t think so. She sounded more like my father is back”

“Okay” they went silent again.
Just then, Miracle saw them walking like husband and wife on her way coming back. She stopped and whined down the front glass.
“Hey, Nath”

“Hey” Nah stopped while Cynthia kept walking but stoppedal at a distant.

“I guess you are back from work”
“Yeah, i just closed”
“Where to?”
“To see her off” Nath glanced at Cynthia.

“Oh..” Miracle smiled. “Both of you fit together. I guess she’s your fiance”

“No oh” Nath smiled. “She’s a friend”

“Alright, have fun” Miracle smiled again and drove off. “I have to gist Joyce about this” she concluded in thought.

As Cynthia and Nath continued their romantic journey, she asked, “Why do people always ask if I’m your wife?”

“Maybe is because you will be” Nah replied and they smiled.

Suddenly, Emma drove out seeing both of them together then came out like an angry lion. Nath adjusted backward while Cynthia stood firm.

“Baby, where have you been?” Emma asked and glanced at Nath. “And what are you doing with this.. dirty guy?”
“Stop it! Don’t call him names!”
“Oh, he’s the one your mum said you went to see”

Cynthia continued walking followed by Nath but Emma moved forward and held her hand and pushed Nath into the nearest bush.

“Emma, what’s your problem?!” Cynthia shrieked.

“Baby, please, enter the car let’s go. I don’t know what u are doing..” he turned to Nath who interrupted him by tapping his shoulder.

“Never you push me again” Nath said.

“What a Bleep!” Emma faced him. “Are you threatening me?”

“I have told you”

Emma wanted to pushed him again but Cynthia came inbetween them. She promised Emma that she would follow him in other to prevent fight between him and Nath.


“You have just touched the lion by the tail!” Emma concluded.

“I will call you” Cynthia told Nath then entered the car before they drove back home as Nath stared at the car.

THE_NEXT_DAY

The previous day, Cynthia called Nath and apologized to him. She explain why she chose to follow Emma and Nath understood.

However, Miracle also called Joyce that night and told her what her eyes saw when coming back that day.

Now, Joyce is in Nath’s apartment as they agreed. She greeted and sat on the bed without saying anything as she removed her shoes. She wasn’t looking happy. Nath could see it on her face as he sat on the long stool. They remained quiet…
