I try as much as possible to stay out of trouble, but no matter how much I try to evade it like Neo in Matrix, trouble away finds a way to capture me. Was it as a result of the over grown influence of my peer group in my life or as a result of my over flowing Karma probably in my past life now revealing itself, only time could tell.

On one Fateful Friday evening, I was so bored at home, I had nothing to do, except to watch my favourite series ''everybody hates Chris''. I tried opening my books to read from time to time, but the more I stared at it, the more it became blurry. I couldn't force myself to read, so I began to watch the season 3 of ''everybody hates Chris''. I started watching from about 11am and ended past 5pm. I was tired. ''if I continue with this kind of lifestyle, I will surely get old in no time o'' this thoughts flashed through my head.

While laying down on the bed, I dialed Maysons number on my phone to check if he was around and if he had prepared anything to eat.

Me: afa you dey house?

Mayson: o boy I dey o, Thompson and smart even dey here with me sef, everywhere good.

Me: I dey H like mad, I dey come. I go even crash for your side.

Mayson: No qualms we dey expect you.

After I dropped the phone, I lazily went into the bathroom took my bucket and went out to fetch water. I took my bathe, got dressed and I began my trip towards Maysons house.

I got to Maysons house about 6:30pm in the evening. The weather was getting very dark, as bats could seen flying with full speed in the air. I guess we were experiencing shorter days and longer nights during that season, (geography student will understand). I knocked repeated at Maysons gate, shouting his name. After about 3mins. He voiced out.

Mayson: who be that?

Me: na me Temy, why you dey take so long to open the gate abi una dey bang babe for inside room.

Mayson: Man gast observe, you no hear say, the street dey hot now adays.

Me: abeg, make I enter, no level. You too dey fear. Hope say you cook o.

I entered his crib, his speakers were turned on to a moderate volume, he was jamming to his favourite 2 faces album, ''unstoppable''. My homies were in the room, each of them had with them a laptop. There were a total of 3 laptops in the room. It was quiet certain. These guys were at work.

Me: Thompson afa na...(shaking him) Smart my guy, the guy only student wey dey teach degree holders, Master degree holders, PHD holders, professors... Make I continue?...

Smart: Temy you too dey wash, no let me enter you o, mm, if I enter you, I go wash you and your boxers finish.

Me: choi! I don miss you o. You no dey even show myside again. So, una dey work, una go put me through o. Me sef wan get client
o.

Smart, was one of my buddy in school, He was practically the one who put me through during my clearance as a fresh man. I had no one to help me, but he was there when I needed him most. Smart has his good sides, but his bad side exceed his good side. He was simply a trouble maker who loves engaging in physical fights. He wasnt a cultist but he was rugged to the core.
I can still recall vividly the day we went to a restaurant to eat in town, after eating we were about to leave the restaurant premises when a lady passed us, I could tell she was in a hurry,
with the kind of speed she used in walking. We heard calls from behind, beseeching us to call the lady that just passed us. We looked back and we saw 4 guys each sitting on a their 4Matic Benz. I tried responding by trying to call the babe, but smart rudely interrupted me.

Smart: Na who be that mad person amongst una wey dey call me anyhow like that, my name na Akpos aka smart. Dey look who you dey follow yan o. I no be dog.

''was I dreaming, Smart just change am anyhow for this guys o '' i tot ''they fit be confra men o''. I began to beg on his behalf. The guys in the vehicle. Just stood there probably surprised by the response giving to them by Smart.

Smart: oooooooo,Temy why you dey beg them na. I dey vex for you o

Me: smart relax na. Your mouth go put you for trouble o. Your blood too dey hot.

Smart took a bold step and walked towards the dude that was calling him, threatening the guy and others in the vehicle. When I came closer, I observed they had tattoos inscribed on their bodies. Two of them had dreadlocks and their lips where dark, it was obvious they smoked cigarette or weed, one of them was so huge, the sight sent shiver running down my spine. ''was smart high on cheap drugs'' I wondered ''how e take get this kind mind''. Smart is the only child of his parents, and he feared nothing. Not even death.

''abeg, uproot that tools wey dey booth sharp sharp'' said the biggest one amongst them. I could tell he was boiling with anger, with the way he gnashed his teeth. Well, On hearing this, I prostrated on floor begging for mercy for not just myself but Smart.
