Mustapha sat on the edge of the bed to gently stroke ibn Fayeez’s forehead like he was a sought of grown pet.

“About a year ago, He stole the book of secrets and tried using it to acquire for himself mystical powers, we assumed the secrets in the book must have been too powerful for him to consume and must have in turned consumed him which had resulted to this…and since then, he had kept mumbling the word ‘Sinnar”. Mustapaha explained looking down into ibn Fayeez’s eyes.

“But I thought you said I alone could use the book, how did he get to use it?” his tone had a bit of anger.

“We don’t know, I guess he must have found his way around it, he had isolated himself from everyone while he read the book for days, no one had knew not until one of the student had found him unconscious locked-up in his room for many days with self inflicted wounds all over his body”

“And did my grand father got to know about it?”

“Definitely, he instructed me to bring him to the hospital and had been responsible for the bills”

“Hum!” Fabian signed heavily, things seem to be getting weird around him faster than he could absorb. First was his grand father’s sudden death, his nightmares, the strange book…and now this. He felt something was not right, something isn’t in place with the present circumstance around him and one thing he was sure of was that his feeling never lies. He wasn’t prepared for all that was happening and neither had he planned to stay around to dwindle in the happenings.

The bn-Fayeez he had grown up with years ago would never have stolen a drop of water if he was to die of thirst, he had never stepped outside the boundaries of morality and good conduct. Bn-Fayeez was one of the orphans his grand father had brought from the refugee-camp years ago and had likewise groomed into a fine Islamic scholar fit to be handed much responsibilities. After much thought, Fabian came to the conclusion that bn-Fayeez could be guilty after all, realizing that time and circumstance have it way of remolding a Saint into a Devil. Fabian had been warned by his grandfather while growing up never to trust anyone, “not even your shadow…for it flees when darkness comes your way” he would warn.

That night in his room, Fabian’s mind wasn’t at ease as he thought of Bn-Fayeez unfortunate situation, he wondered what else he might have encountered in The Book of secrets that could have transformed cool headed man into a lunatic. Slowly, he opened The Book of Secrets to persistently gaze at its ‘Chapter two’ as he could hear his heart beating furiously within his chest and his adrenaline in motion. He never knows what to expect but was certain it wouldn’t be close to comforting. He gently placed his palm on the surface of the book and tightly shut his eyes, he gradually felt his body drifting away and seconds later, he heard noises of wailings and screams and could feel the tension in the air, he opened his eyes to see everywhere around him littered with blood and various disjointed body parts hitting the grounds carelessly from the sky.
