Turning my attention from the window, I looked around the living room which was lit up dozens of Christmas lights, courtesy of my darling husband. You can never have too many Christmas lights.

I wheeled my chair to the bedroom. Christmas lights and candles lit the room. Tinsel hung from walls and the curtains covered in mistletoe hung proudly on the windows.

I watched Alex put my clothes and shoes in one bag. The other bag was full and zipped. “Am done princess” he said, spreading his hands in the air like he had achieved something big. “Thanks love” I said, kissing him on the lips. “Nigeria! Here we come” We both chorused and laughed exuberantly.

“I have forgive you” I said, looking at my dad, eyeball to eyeball. Alex held my hand tight and gave me a ‘I am proud of you’ look..

Afterall, Everyone deserves a second Chance. The man had explained that twenty-six years ago, he told my mom he would love to travel to another state so he could start afresh, work harder and make money.

He showed me the numerous letters he sent to my mom without a response from her.
My mom had believed he ran away even after he had clearly made clear his intentions. He explained to me that he would have returned years back when he hit a pretty large jackpot if not that he was duped and had to start again from the scratch.

After the long explanation, I had gestured to my mom to pull him into a hug and she did, then I joined them and Alex followed suit too.
