I merely nodded my head, my nerves making it difficult to even think straight let alone speak.

“I had that dream again. That you ran away on our wedding day” I said, looking into Alex’s eyes. It had been nine months since I got discharged in the hospital and my wedding was holding in twenty-four hours.

“I really don’t know why you keep having that dream but am using this moment to let you know that I’ll never walk out of your life” he mumbled into my ear. He was wearing a loosely necklined T-shirt and worn out jeans.


He could definitely be perfect even in the most imperfect of garments.

To be honest, he had been very supportive.
Adjusting to my new life, I mean the life I had to get used to using wheelchair had not been easy.
It was not easy for me at all. I had cried and cried for days and weeks that at a point, I felt like dying. He was my strength. The only reason I had to live. I couldn’t afford to leave him alone in a world so cruel with people so heartless that would stop at nothing to get what they want.

“Mom said Mitch was sentenced yesterday” I said, holding tight his hand.

“Yes. I personally saw to it that she was apprehended and jailed” he proudly said. “She got away with Kate’s death, I would never let her get away with what she has done to you. Never!” He added, tickling my chin lightly.

I smiled and touched his face. My fingers felt the prickly yet tickly unshaved short hair in his jaw. “Dad called. He will be travelling to Nigeria today. With mom and my siblings” he informed.

“I can’t believe tomorrow is our day” I said with a dreamy sigh.

He carried me in his arms and looked into my eyeballs.

“You won’t be using the wheelchair today princess. I will do the job”

I smiled as I looked at the man whose arms I was. He was the perfect one for me, someone that loved me and would always love me forever and always.
