“Don’t let her get an iota of pity from you, fine, she happened not to have kidnapped you the other day but she can do anything worse than that Tola, she’s only laying low for now so she can gain your trust first” I spoke slowly, slow enough for Tola to understand every bit of my words.

The cold icy look in her eyes made my heart flutter. I was scared. Scared that this stubborn Tola before me wouldn’t listen to me, scared that she would open her heart and accept a snake as friend, above all, scared that my heart will get shattered again.

“Alex, how else do you want me to convince you that she has changed?” Tola asked, peering deep into my eyes. It was a Friday evening and I was at her house. After finishing at the bank, we had bought decided to spend the evening together at her residence. “She has changed. For real” she added. I shut my eyes and looked away, making it obvious I didn’t want to talk about Mitch.

“Mitch, I have no right to choose your friends for you, don’t trust Mitch. Since you want to be her friend, I won’t hold you back but open your eyes well, be careful” I warned and sighed deeply.

“Its okay. I sure will. But I want you to know that she has changed” She said, tickling my hands gently.

“Can we please talk about something else?”

I asked irritatedly. Was sick and tired of Mitch this, Mitch that. “Okay, bring up something” she withdrew and crossed her legs. “Hmm.Do you have a visa?” I asked.

“Its okay. I sure will. But I want you to know that she has changed” She said, tickling my hands gently.

“Can we please talk about something else?” I asked irritatedly. Was sick and tired of Mitch this, Mitch that. “Okay, bring up something” she withdrew and crossed her legs. “Hmm.Do you have a visa?” I asked.

“Yes. I did got a visa luckily two years back. Why?” She asked.

Just then, Tola’s mom opened the door and stepped in. She was dressed in an ‘aso-oke’ and a beautiful well styled head gear graced her head. Even at 51 years old, ‘she was still in town’, still slaying here and there. Tola had told me her age absent mindedly while gisting about how vibrant her mother was.
