April woke up very happy because her parents
were going to give
her the money for her waec. She went to greet
her parents then
she swept both the living room and the bedroom
when she was
done, she went into the kitchen to warm the left
over of yesterday
that she was going to eat before going to school
then she wash all
the dishes in the kitchen when she was through
with her house chores, and then she took her
bath.

Few minutes later April was already dressed up
for school. She
went into the bedroom to collect money for her
waec from her
parents.

It took April 20 minutes for her to trek down to
her school and
when she entered into the school premises, she
didn’t even bother going to her class she head
for the principal’s (Mr Odah) office instead.
April: ”Good morning sir”
Principal: (raising his head from the book he was
looking at) ”Morning April. How may I help you?”
April: ”Sir, I came to pay for my waec” (handing
the money to the
principal)
Principal: (collected the money and started
counting it) ”Wow, That’s good. I have been
meaning to ask you if you were not going to
write waec because I noticed that you were the
only that is yet to pay for the waec fees in your
class”
April: ”Things were really hard for my patents
that was why i didn’t pay my waec fees earlier”
Principal: (after counting the money) ”This
money is N50,000 when are you going to bring the
remaining balance of N25,000?”
April: ”Sir am only writing waec”
Principal: ”Okay but the payment of waec is just
N45,000 not N50,000”
April: ”Sir, our class master said that I will be
paying additional
N5000 for paying late”
Principal: ”Oh, that’s true, I was the one that
told him that but I
won’t be collecting that N500 from you because
you are the most well behaved girl in this
school”
April: ”Thanks sir”
Principal: ”You are welcome April and I won’t
give you back the
money”
April: (in a confuse state) ”But sir why wont you
give me back the
money?”
Principal: ”I won’t give you back the money
because am going to
use it as the money for your I.D card and exam
practical for both
waec and Neco”
April: ”but Sir, I told you I will be writing only
waec”
Principal: ”And why are you not going to write
it?”
April: (with sadness in her voice) ”Sir, my
parents don’t have enough money to pay for my
Neco but i would have love to write it”
Principal: ”Don’t worry my dear you are going to
write Neco”
April: (confused and surprise) ”Sir how is that
possible?”
Principal: ”Am going to pay your Neco fees for
you”
April: (excitedly) ”Really?”
Principal: ”Am very sure”
April: ”Sir but why are you helping me?”
Principal: ”You see April you are a nice and
intelligent girl, you are
the best this school has ever produce and you
are a girl every
parents would want to have as a daughter that’s
why am taking it
upon myself to pay your Neco fees”
April: (excited) ”Thanks sir”
Principal: ”And am also doing this for you
because I know you are
not going to disappoint me and I hope you won’t
do that?”
April: ”I promise not to disappoint you because
am going to put my 101% best into this
