Must Read: Laraba (Werewolves,Vampires, Witches)

“My son, I don’t want to break it but I’m at the verge of breaking it.” Lazarus said and removed her stare from the Jamal this time around. “If
my friend should die tomorrow, the promise would be broken.”
he said
almost in a mutter.

Jamal flared up in anger. “And what kind of promise is that?” he asked
crossly, getting slightly irritated with what Lazarus was saying. How could
he be held responsible for the death of his friend? Whoever coined the idea
did that from a pure madcap mind.

Lazarus swallowed the lumps holding his throat hostage. “The promise is
the reason why I’m here today, waiting and hoping to save my friend.

The promise has always been the reason why I chose to make friend with this
my person that is about to die. I promise his brother that I will always look
after him after he left the town more than 40 years ago. And so far, I tried
my best. I have always looked after him, even had to choose a recluse life in the woods just to be with him. But 30 years ago I lost him. I was pained and hurt even though I know he was not dead. But recently that I
discovered a way to bring him back, I only have not less than 24 hours to
bring back. Son, he will die tomorrow if I fail to find him today.

And if he should die, that means I have failed my promise of looking after him.”

Lazarus recounted sadly, his face was all smiling but tears tainted the
smile.

Lazarus gloomy words warmed Jamal’s heart. Here was an upright man
still striving to justify the promise he made more than 40 years ago, while
him had cursorily ditched the one he made to his foster-father just several
months back. He had promised to grant the man any request he required of
him but he had failed woefully to fulfil it when the latter made his request.

Well, he couldn’t blame himself though, the request is just too heavy to
grant.

“Who is this your friend? I mean what type of help do you need? You
know I could be of help.”
Jamal cooed.

The monk thought about the question and suppressed the urge to give a
kind candid advise. He couldn’t tell him he was to meet Meshach so he
could take him to Khalid then Khalid would help them find his father,
Ryan Jericho with just a drop of his blood. He knew telling him that was
like putting a false hope on Lamia, and moreover that could blow Ryan’s
cover.

Lazarus shook his head. “All you should know is that my friend was
kidnapped 30 years ago and I need just to do something just to find him
and bring him back.”

Now, Jamal was not only feeling depressed at Lazarus words, he was
totally surprised too. He felt connected to the story somehow but couldn’t
spot where. He only knew the time the old monk claimed he lost his friend
corresponded with the time he was told his father was attacked before he
disappeared. After that nothing more. Jamal sighed heavily, and that won
him an him an attention from Lazarus.

“What are you thinking? You look more troubled than I.” the monk’s lax
voice cut him from his thought.

Jamal heaved a sigh. “I’m not really troubled. I’m just getting anxious about
something.”
He said.

“What’s that you anxious about?” the monk questioned.

“I’m also expected to meet someone have not met for the past 30 years I
was born. So,”
Jamal said, throwing a slight shrug. “I’m anxious about
that.”

It was high for Lazarus to be amazed. Could this be Khalid? The thought
crossed his mind. Jamal’s gorgeousness was doubtlessly scintillating like
that of Ryan. Apparently, only Ryan had ever had half of the Jamal’s
stunning look in the whole of Laraba. Then his Lamia nature, for all he
knew he might not only possess vampirism, he might also be a werewolf making him a hybrid like Ryan. The mousse smile playing all over his face also was murmuring something about him being Ryan’s blood, coupled
with the humane part of him all pointed him as nobody else but Khalid.

Even the words he spilled now was pricking. Lazarus decided he was
going to confirm that. So he rose from the chair he was sitting and stood
facing Jamal directly. Then he pressed a sturdy glare on him.

“Who are you son?” he asked, this time with utter seriousness.

Jamal could swear the old man was already going bonker resuming his
absurd antics. Jamal tried to search for any bruises on his head perhaps the
old man had hit head on a tiled floor that morning before reporting at the
cabin. Jamal groaned on his failure to locate one bruise. “What are you
talking about?”
He asked.

Lazarus rested his eyes on him probingly. “What is your name?” he asked
bluntly, hoping the name he gave should be ‘Khalid.’ It must be Khalid.

Jamal threw a shrug. “My name is Jamal.” he said tersely.

Lazarus heaved in disappointment. But then, he remembered Khalid
would always have a talisman around his neck.
All the times he had
stalked on Khalid while he was still teen leaving in Laraba, Khalid always
had the talisman he gave to his father around his neck. He was sure Ryan
must have requested Regina to put it on his son, so he could repress his
supernaturalism. Lazarus suddenly lurched towards him and ripped his
shirt opened to have a good view of his neck.
But he couldn’t find
anything.

“Jamal, do you have a talisman?” he asked grasping Jamal’s neck in a way
that seemed he wanted to smother life out him.
Jamal scoffed and scoffed at the question.

This was what he had envisaged
and properly thought he had he prevented from happening. “I don’t know
what you are talking about?”
He lied and hoped the monk should stop his
lunacy.

Lazarus sighed heavily at Jamal’s response.
He wondered how the man
was bearing ‘Jamal’ when he could see ‘Khalid’ reeking all over him.

Everything about him kept yelling that he was Jamal?

“I’m sorry I’m Jamal” he begged and stared, “but is Jamal your real name?”

Lazarus asked.

***
“I’m …I’m not telling you anything.” Meshach groaned out. ” Don’t bother
wasting your time torturing me.”
He said. He was totally unclad with his
legs and hands fettered together while he was confined to chamber that
looked more of a cubicle. The chamber had large portion of vervain
littering around, with only one opening that was always covered with a
round iron steel above him to consent the flow air. However, Meshach
hadn’t enjoyed a nanosecond of air from the opening because, the opening
always remained closed with the iron steel.
