Maria smiled broadly ‘i took the test and it was negative! I’m not pregnant Alice, i’m not!’
Alice smiled broadly ‘wow! I’m so happy for you my dear. So what did they diagnose was wrong with you?’
‘they said i just contacted a toilet infection, reason why i didnt see my period this month so they prescibed drugs for me’
‘wow! I’m so happy for you my darling’
‘i know, thanks’ Maria said giggling in excitement.
Alice smiled and winced in pain as she tried to sit up.
‘dont stress yourself. What do you need? I will bring it to you’
‘water’
Maria stood up and hurriedly fetched water from the dispenser and gave it to her.
‘thanks’ Alice muttered weakly and drank from it.
Then she handed the cup back to Maria who took it and placed it back where she saw it.
‘Maria, why are you being nice to me?’ Alice asked after about an hour silence.
‘uh?’
‘i’m just curious. You hated me very much before but now you are taking care of me. I just wanted to know why’
Maria smiled ‘its not that i hate you Alice. I was just angry that you wanted to take my mother’s place and that she might be offended, thats all’
‘oh! I’m so sorry for everything’
‘its okay. Even though i strongly believe that my mum would be offended anywere she is now, i’ll learn to accept you afterall you werent the one who killed my mum. It was her wicked witch of a mother that killed her’
‘hmm’
‘but its okay. You can marry him now. I’ve come to accept you not because i feel i should accept you but because you make my dad happy and you are kind of nice and understanding. Even though my so called secret held no meaning, you kept it from my dad. I really appreciate’
Alice smiled warmly. She was already dozing off due to tiredness.
‘i can see you are sleepy already’ Maria said with a cool smile.
Alice nodded.
‘have a good night rest’ Maria said.
Alice nodded again and slept off.

Tony pushed the door to Ximena’s room with full force and entered.
She wasnt there.
And the room felt empty. He went to the wardrobe and opened it, it was empty!
Ximena was gone.
As he was about leaving the room, he saw a white piece of paper on the dressing table.
He picked it up and opened it.
It was hard seeing the handwriting though. It was kind of complicated. He went to his room, put on his medicated eyeglass and read it.
It read;
Tony or whoever might be reading this right now, i just want to say i’m gone for good. I know that i’m not wanted here so in order to save the little pride i have left, i have decided to leave on my own without being asked to leave.
I’m sorry for everything, especially to Alice. I know you dont deserve everything i did so i’m apologising, please find it in your heart to forgive me. I didnt plan to make you look bad to anyone and i didnt plan to hit you in the stomach either, please forgive me.

I want to know that i’m forgiven so i could have my peace of mind in Mexico. I’m going to start dating the guy who has had a crush on me for years now. I’m going to give him a chance and i’m sure i could learn to love him.

Tony sighed and dropped the letter in his drawer. He was going to give it to Alice. If she forgave her, good. If not…..whatever.
He needed to sleep and then he remembered he needed to call Dingo abi Bingo.
His anger had subsided now. So they should terminate the contract.

He picked at the second ring.
