Hey Addy, long time, stranger. Do you still live here at all?’ said Simi as Aduke burst into the flat
‘Hi Simi’ said Aduke quickly as she dashed into her room. She needed to pee urgently
It had been a tense ride with the crazy one and she had been too proud to ask the driver to pull over at one of the eateries, so that she could relieve herself. She had therefore quickly called Tessy downstairs before she had rushed up the elevator with a full bladder, hoping she did not make a mess on her own body

She was relieved to be here now, even though she had suspected that Gabbo had only conceded in order to avoid a long drawn out argument in the presence of his driver, it was a win for her, nonetheless.

Aduke had opened the door to meet Simi seated at the dining table, glasses perched on her nose, writing furiously.
‘Wait, I need to pee’ said Addy as she rushed inside.
Relieved, she came out to tease her friend, Simi.
‘Simz, you look like a CEO. What’s up with the glasses and all these documents?’ Finally, Addy thought to herself, a normal tension free conversation. This was why she had come here. The need to return her life to normalcy.
‘Newsflash Addy! I AM a CEO! Okay, one in the making, but a CEO nonetheless. First things though! Congrats on your engamement!!! You went AWOL as soon as the news broke. How has it been? You’ve been holed up with the Mister for so long.’ Aduke looked at her friend and sensed that something wasn’t quite right. There was an air of falseness around the congrats. Was Simi jealous? No need for her to be, it had been a false engagement anyway.

‘What engagement? Oh, the one on the blog? Rubbish. They got their information wrong. Gabbo’s people will resolve that’ said Aduke truthfully.
‘Really? Hope Gabbo was not too mad?’ asked Simi who had wondered about this.
‘He would be fine. These things come with being public personality, I guess’ said Addy who waved it off.

Simi let out an air of relief. It had been a test.

After all, she was the one who had spoken with Belinda Splinkeji and knew that the story had been fabricated. Simi looked at Aduke with refreshed eyes, appreciating her innocence again. This was the singular trait that had drawn her to this girl in the first place. She was so innocent and unassuming. These were traits that were sorely lacking in LasGidi circles. She decided to come clean to Aduke with regards to her plans for Peter. She owed her friend this much.

‘So, Tessy and I were saying we would talk to you about something. I better start before Tessy comes by’ said Simi
‘Really? About what?’ asked a curious Aduke
‘See, my dad needs to see my fiancé before he lets me into the business. In fact, thats what I’m working on now – a new organogram for the company when I take over’ said Simi
‘Ah, that’s great Simi. Do you think you can rise to this challenge? I think you can, just put your mind into it’ said Addy, encouragingly
‘Thanks babe. The thing is that, as we all know, I don’t have a fiance and we need one urgently. We need someone reliable who won’t steal from the organisation, someone with integrity and all that stuff, so we identified someone’ said Simi in a rush. Perhaps she should have waited for Tessy to come.
‘Great, have you contacted him? What did he say? asked Addy
‘Tessy spoke to him today and has gone to arrange for a meeting between he and I’ said Simi
‘Great stuff. Is he willing to do it?’ asked Addy, happy for her friend
‘Seat down first, I need your permission too’ said Simi
‘Why?’ asked Aduke, doubt in her eyes
‘Because the person we identified is Peter, your ex-boyfriend’ said Simi
Aduke looked at Simi, confused, wondering how Tessy could have spoken with Peter. She and Alhaji had been trying his phone number since they got to the hospital and it had been switched off. Did Tessy have another number? What exactly was going on here? Has Tessy been lying to Simi?
‘Addy, its okay if you aren’t comfortable with this. I promise you. We would just get back on the drawing board’ misinterpreting Addy’s look
‘No. it’s not even that. Did Tessy tell you she spoke with him? asked Addy
‘I saw her dial him and she went out quickly after that… I guess she did’ responded Simi
‘But I’ve been looking for him and I spoke with her not long ago. She said nothing about his whereabouts or having talked with him.’ said a confused Aduke
‘Really? Strange. So, do you think you are disentangled enough to watch me act as your ex’s fiancee?’ continued Simi, who really did not understand Aduke, but wanted to be sure her plans were still fine
‘Let me call Tessy’ said Aduke
‘Is it this serious? Ok, call her’ responded Simi
The call connected at the first ring
‘Tess, have you seen Peter ? asked Addy, straight off
‘What kind of question is that? Asked Tessy, who was surprised and taken aback. Had the P.Is found something on her?
‘Simi thinks you spoke with him and went to a meeting with him’ said Aduke
‘What does Simi know? Don’t mind her; responded Tessy in a rush
‘Why does she think this though? asked Addy
‘Ask her na, why are you asking me? Are you at home? I’m on my way home now. Tessy cut the line before Aduke could continue.

‘Simz, she said you got it wrong’ said Aduke to Simisola as soon as the connection went off
‘How can she say that? I only went into the kitchen as she connected the call. Next thing, she said she was out so that she could see him’ said Simi who now looked unsure and uncomfortable
‘Hmmm, I wonder if Tessy is up to anything’ thought Aduke aloud
‘Addy, if you still feel strongly about Peter, I can find someone else, dear. I totally understand’ reassured Simisola
‘No. It’s not that. Something is fishy here’ said Addy. Her instincts told her something was off, but she could not lay a finger on it
‘What?’ asked Simisola, not really concerned
‘Never mind dear. So what changes would you make on the organogram?’ said Addy, changing the topic
As Simi began to elaborate on her plans, Addy zoned out, reflecting on her recent conversation with Tessy. She noticed that Tessy had really not answered any of the questions she had asked her. There was definitely something fishy going on her. Did Simi know about it too? Aduke suspected Simi did and decided to leave the house. D.G had been right, she’s better off with her mum and aunty, than here right now. She would get Tessy later.

‘I have to go’ said Addy abruptly
‘Are you okay?’ asked Simi
‘Yes. I need to see my aunt’ responded Aduke ‘Later Simi’.
