Aduke quickly got up from the floor. She was not about to sit back and allow Gabbo lock her in this house. She decided to chase after him and met him standing outside the front door, impatiently waiting for the driver to pull up in front of him.

One cursory look at his face confirmed her concerns that this evil man still had something planned for her.

Her brain swung into quick action and she figured out that it was safer for her to be seen with him in public than for her to be locked here with only his paid goons for company. The second the driver pulled up, she ran round and sat behind the driver, expecting a fight from Gabbo who sat in front, beside the driver.

Instead of a fight as she expected, Gabbo did not acknowledge her existence. She might as well have turned into thin air for all the attention he paid her. Aduke did not know if this was a good or bad thing, but as she sat behind the driver, her heart thudded faster.

She wondered if she had she finally walked into her own doom. Was she right to have followed him? Would she have been safer back in his home. At least she had witnesses there. Her mother and Aunty had seen her with Gabbo. Now that she had followed him, he could easily drive her away to an unknown location, beat or shoot her and then bury her. She was certain she had walked into a trap. Aduke began to fear for she suspected that she could be in big trouble.
‘Kofi, head towards Saint Nicholas Hospital right now. Please be as fast as you can’ he ordered.

She looked at his rock hard profile from her corner at the back and saw him bring out his mobile phone. His movements were quick as he scrolled through the contacts on his phone.

Danladi Gabbo had no time for the little twat seated in the back seat. He could see that she was worried. A part of him was jealous but he had no time for that right now. He had no time for anything other than Peter’s well-being. This was his personal mission. That boy had to be well. He had to ensure Peter received the best care possible. This had been a big mistake.

‘Dr. Nelson. How are you? Are you at work? Gabbo spoke into his phone
‘No? Murtala Muhammed Airport? Medical Conference in Spain?’ Dr. Nelson was unavailable. He was leading a delegation of Medical Doctors to a conference in Spain.
‘Can’t you postpone it?’ he paused for a response again. His voice echoed his disappointment ‘Ah, you are a keynote speaker.

Can you come back to the hospital? My private jet can take you down later tonight or tomorrow morning and you would be reimbursed for all your troubles’ he tried to tempt the good doctor.

‘A run-down of my health challenge? No, it’s not me. It is one of my staff. He has been involved in a terrible accident’ He gave a quick run-down of Peter’s condition.
‘Not really. You see it wasn’t a road accident. He got into trouble with some thugs who beat him up’
‘I understand. I know. Would appreciate it if..… Oh you cannot come? It’s not a major case? The others will handle it?
‘Okay will you leave instructions and call me back? Great
Aduke looked at him from the back and reconfirmed that this man was indeed mad. How could he switch from being a thug to becoming a caring boss? Oh, he was now willing to fly a doctor out in his private jet, now that he knew he had erred? What a monster! He now wants to make amends after beating Peter up!
His voice jarred into her thoughts again.

‘Kofi, isn’t there an alternative route?’ he asked his driver, impatiently. They had driven into standstill traffic which seemed unlikely to move.

Gabbo had already begun to fidget. He picked up the newspaper from the back seat beside Aduke.

His hand brushed hers and he felt that jolt of electricity again. He quickly snatched his hand away.
‘No sir, this is our best route to the hospital sir.’ said Kofi who sounded as though he was used to living in traffic.
