‘I havn’t done a thing!’ Snigdha said in mock indignation.
‘Yea, I know. You only have to weep those big tears, wriggle your sexy bottom close to my already aching body, and then throw yourself at me.’ Roshan said mocking her.
Snigdha blushed and ducked her head. Roshan put a finger below her chin and raised her face.



‘You are one of the most amazing women I’ve ever come across. You are beautiful, brave and bashful, all at the same time. I love your spunk. I love your spirit. And I want you very very badly. But… But this is not the right time to express our want and desire for each other. Hell, I can’t even make love to you in this hellish place.’ Roshan laughed.
Snigdha’s ears had warmed hearing all those intimate compliments. She had not realised that Roshan was fighting the same attraction that she was fighting. Yet she also noticed that not once did he mention love. Only attraction, desire and wanting.
‘Errr… what time is it?’ She changed the subject.
Roshan looked at her with one eyebrow raised, as if he understood her intention.
‘Its around 3 am. We should start from here in an hour. No point sleeping anymore. Let’s wait for the clock to strike 4 and we will be off on our foot.’ He stopped suddenly and looked at her curiously. ‘Are you feeling OK?’ ‘Why were you so scared? Bad dreams?’
Snigdha shifted on the stole uneasily knowing very well that she had dreaded this very moment, when Roshan would ask her about her nightmares. Should she lie? Tell him that she was having nightmares about the terrorists? She opened her mouth to say it when she saw his expression of concern, and worry. She started hesitantly,
‘The harrowing time that I’ve had is taking toll on me I guess. I keep having these terrifying visions of my kidnap and…’
‘Who is Vikas?’ Roshan asked interrupting her.
‘Vikas… ? Did I take his… ? Oh God!’ Snigdha pushed her tangled hair away from her forehead with shaking fingers. She knew she couldn’t avoid the truth now… the gory, hidden and unpalatable past of hers. She bit her lips in agitation.



‘If it troubles you, don’t tell me. But maybe sharing some of your burden, might lessen the pain.’ His voice was soft and soothing.
