Still mystified by the thought of what might have happened,and hinging on the better sweet thought of what i wished not to happen,i knocked on their gate…As i waited impatiently,or rather,as i patiently waited for the gate to be opened,i prayed that the worst i feared will not happen…I knocked again for the second time,and as i wanted to knock for the third time in succession,i heard footsteps approach,and the Gate was opened…..”oh Odii”,Jane called out as she came out of their compound,while holding the gate back with one of her hands,and kept smiling at me…



I didnt even know what to say or do in that particular moment as i stood there,hands holding my bicycle…”abiala nu m”(I Have come),i later said to which she smiled to,and said i came very late….I told her that i didnt even want to come as a matter of fact,but that something pushed me to come..Infact,not to lie,i told her that i finally came because i was afraid she will come to our house as she said…She laughed at this for a while before telling me that she has already gone to our place….”i ka ga ugha”(You are lying),i told her even though i was afraid she might be saying the truth…She repeated it again,this time sounding more serious than before..”gwa m eziokwu? I ka ga eziokwu?”(Tell me the truth? Are you saying the Truth?),i asked in somehw confused,she replied in the affirmative.I said,”taa,i ji atû ugha”(Taa,you are a liar), to brush her off her stand,still ocupied by the thought that she was still lying.But,she said “lelenu Odii o.ichesa m ntûga ugha? Ngwanu i laruo juo nwanne gi nke nwanyi ahu di oji ma enwere onye chotara gi”(Look at Odii o!You think am lying? Okay na,if you reach back,ask that your sister that is dark whether somebody came looking for me)…
Seriously,i was dumbfounded..it dawned on me that the girl had really made good her promise by coming to our house…I mean,so this girl really wants to put me in trouble with Amara! Heheheey!! Anyway,i thank God that Amara and i were out when she came…hmmmmm..Amara is even the cause,because if she had not told me to go with her to their house,Jane wouldnt have ventured coming..The only thing i prayed now is for Blessing(who Jane thought was my sister,real biological sister i mean,…) not to Spill anything to Amara….
But why did you go to our house na,i asked Jane,to which she said she told me she would,incase i failed to live upto my own promise….”Eziokwu,a like kwa m kpa ishi jee na nke anyi”(To tell you the truth,i dont like how you went to our place),i finally said to her,and she said “Ndo”(sorry) to me….
I nagged a bit and pretended to be sad,before finally accepting her persistent gentle sayings of “sorry na..i wont do it again,oh!”…On a brighter side,she told me that she had that priviledge to come to our house because her parents went to spend the weekend in town(OWERRI MUNICIPAL)….she now told me that she had hoped that i came earlier,and we could have played together,and things like that…We were still standing in their gate as we had this discussions…..She continued,saying that she is really begining to like me a lot so suddenly…hmmmmmm…Like seriously,this is the last thing i needed right now,but looking at the fact that Amara will be going back to their house this weekend,it is an option that shud not be jeopardized with.I Had to seize it,i told myself..And i did..


Jane was like,that i should sleep in their house that night na,to which i told her that it is impossible o..In jokes,thinking that she wont agree to,i told her to come with me na to our house and sleep…She jubilantly agreed to,and wanted to go inside,probably to inform her sister about the development…O Boy! I had to eat my own words,and tell her that i was joking..(i need not tell again how her mood turned to==>y’all already know..)
To brighten her up,i asked her when her parents will be coming back,she said it will be sunday evening as usual…So,i told her that i will come to their house tomorrow as soon as school dismisses,and that we will stay till nighttime…She became happy again,revealing that she didnt even plan to go school To tomorrow..Sounds good!…It even made me promise her that i will not go to school again tomorrow,that i will be coming to their house instead,to stay with her…She became extremely joyous,and hugged me in the process,which instantly arose my Greatman,and she noticed it,but didnt care….She whispered to my ear that “anyi ga eme ihe iberibe echi”(We will mess tomorrow),smiling….I didnt say anything,as i told her that i will be going,and rode off while she waved bye-bye for me,and went inside…



My mind kept telling me i had fu.cked up as i rode back,without giving me reasons for its conclusion;well thats the mind games,whenever you have reasons for what you said,raise yourself up again…I made this statement in reference to the “fu.cked up thought”,and banished it to the hades of my thinking faculty.
