Amara woke me up early the next day,and then i walked back to my room after i had gone and eased myself in the bathroom from the ever forming urine in my bladder…Junior was awake when i walked in,so we both started talking and i told him we will be going somewhere in the evening to which he happily agreed to…Junior loves going out with me,infact he just loves to be with me i could say again…I also inquired of him about his new found love(Amauche),to which he started laughing at…While we were laughing and chatting in the early hours of that morning,my Grandma walked past our room,but chipped in that,”chi obokwa abo unu achicho…taa huhuru nu fuola m uzo!”(It is still early and you kids are making noise…The second statement is more of “free me abeg” or “commot road for me joor”,which is said literally said regardless of whether the person was blocking your road or not….)..Having said that,she asked us whether we will bath hot water for school to which we answered in the affirmative and she headed down to the kitchen……..



When i reached our school,not many pupils had come…As usual,i went with my bicycle which is an added advantage for me cuz of the extra speed it adds….And so i took it on myself to sweep our classroom while other pupils arrive…It wasnt long before school was filled to the brim as usual,and then Collins them reminded me of that Foodflask stuff,to which i smiled to,telling them not to bother….



During the assembly,about 5-6 primary five pupils were brought out of the assembly for gross misconduct,and then flogged heavily by the headmaster…But one of them really captured my interest,or would i say,that of the whole school…



While the other kids,or rather,his classmates were being flogged,they either started crying or ran away from the Headmaster and then he(headmaster) wont flog them again…But this guy(boy) didnt follow in the cue of those flogged before him…As the headmaster flogged him,he stood there and recieved them all;without a shed of tear nor did he run away…Dude was just a perfect Cane Situation(somebody who with-holds the pain of cane when flogged,as if it was nothing while being lashed)….After the headmaster finished flogging him,even though he stopped flogging cuz it was now too much for a kid,he freed the boy with disgust written all over his face…Suddenly,claps erupted from nowhere and everybody started clapping for the boy as if he had done a great thing…chai!
The Headmaster later announced that a magician will be coming to the school on friday,and that if you wanted to be among the spectators/viewers of his magic tricks,then you will pay 20naira…..On this note,the assembly was dismissed and we all jubilantly went back to our various classes….
Madam Obi didnt even ask about the Flask as they all feared but i still told her about it,to which she just said that i should forget about it….Thank God!! She also told me that her daughter,Aunty Faith said she bought some gifts for me,that i should come that evening and take it…Hmmmmmm…Aunty Faith again! But then in my mind,i knew that there was no damn way in hell i will go to that place alone;Amara or Junior must be in company…..


During the break period,I rode to the Nurse’ house,cuz i didnt want to waste time there to avoid coming back late…So,i rode as fast as i could,and within a few minutes,i was in their house…She was around this time,but so was her Grandma too…After Greeting her Grandma,the woman turned a little skeptical,and i guess she must be wondering why i was there with my school uniform and it was still morning time…But the Nurse took control of the situation,lying to her Grandma that she sent for me,and that she wanted to give me something…Her Grandma got relieved of her skeptics and went to their sitting room to relax and chill out…Actually,i didnt get to do anything meaningful with the Nurse cuz her Grandma kept calling her out for one thing or the other,much to her(The nurse) annoyance….We ended up having a Quickie(which really felt good to me at that moment),and so i told the Nurse to come to our on Sunday Morning for us to have a comprehensive bleeping session before she goes back to Owerri cuz of her Morning duty;I will pretend i was not well or simply find an excuse not to go to Mass that day…………With this assurance,i headed back to school,through the Pathway i had shown Madam Obi previously,and arrived at the school about 5mins to the end of Break period……..



The rest of the school hour was uneventful..School finally dismissed,and we went home…Only my Grandma was at home,and so after eating,i went to her room and she told me stories and we chatted till i slept off….When i woke up,the house is full,so i told Junior to come and escort me to somewhere as i had told him earlier in the morning; that somewhere is actually to the house of Ukamaka.
It was as if i had pre-determined what will actually happen in the evening time by telling Junior that he will be escorting me somewhere that day…Actually, i had planned for Junior to escort me to Ukamaka them their place,but i later had a rethink of that decision…But then,Madam Obi telling me that Aunty Faith bought something for me and wanted me to come and take it,offered me a way out….



So,Junior and i mounted on our Respective Bicycles and rode off…But just as we crossed Amauche’s father’s house,Junior got flanked down by her(Amauche’s) mother….Junior stopped,as well as i…The woman sent him on an Errand to go buy something for her from AhiaOrji(a small evening market that operates near a big Iroko tree around our School)…I could see frustration and anger written all over the face of Junior with this development,even though he did well to hide it from her…Actually,Amauche or any of her daughters could have gone for that errand but none of their bicycles was around,and Junior didnt want to release his Bicycle too…He had to carry the Cross,it was his making…I Told him to Rush and come back,that i will be waiting for him..
He was doubtful that i might leave him,so i now told him to ride straight to the Market Square incase he comes back here and doesnt see me…With this in mind,he rode off…
Well,with this development,i need not wait for him..I used the Opportunity to go and Meet with Ukamaka and know what she wanted to see me for;Junior and i will go to his Aunty’s place if at all he will make it to the Market Square..
I arrived at Ukamaka’s place,and knocked at their gate immediately…Her younger sister,who should be around 13yrs of age came and opened the gate,after asking who was knocking…Both of us got ourselves into a staring competition,and i almost forgot the reason why i came there…Seriously,the beauty and fairness of the girl captivated me,and i guess i captivated her too cuz she too forgot the purpose to which she came to the gate for….



I got myself,and because i didnt want to appear disrespectul,i asked her whether Aunty Ukamaka is around,and she said No,but that she will be coming back soon as she just left now and didnt go far…While we walked in to their house proper,she asked if i am “Odii”,to which i replied in the affirmative..I asked her how she came to know of my name,and she simply smiled,saying that her elder sister told her to look out for me,and keep me busy incase she wasnt around when i come..As a kid then,i didnt think this,but i would have said that these was some sort of a set up or match fixing or whatever that could justify what i feel now,but not as at then..I waited for almost close to 15mins,still yet Ukamaka was not yet back,so i got disturbed,even though The girl with me there has been trying to keep me busy as best as she could..But as soon as i had decided that i will be going,The girl got somehow angry,telling me to wait a bit more..


I obliged her request..Now,since i came to that house,i had been talking freely with the girl,but i had avoided inputing on topics that create a sort of Chemistry between us,like her name,where am from,what brought me to meet with her sister,my family background and vice versa..



I wanted whatever discussion that we were having to just be rotating on the Ukamaka issue,as to why she is delaying in coming back,and why she didnt tell me she wont be around and still insist that i come by this time…I just wanted our discussion to focus on Ukamaka,but i wasnt to be,cuz i got myself telling the girl things just as she spewed things about herself too…..Thats how i got to know that her name is Jane….We both were now chatting as if we had known ourselves all our life when Ukamaka finally came back….She smiled when she saw us,and i concluded that she had planned the whole meeting with her sister so that i could be attached to her sister,which will make me come their house as often as possible;and then in the end,she will be having quick assess to me under the disguise of her sister…..But why should she resort to this way? I kept asking myself afterwards…Is she not afraid that i might spill out a little of our secret to her little sister? So what if i have not caught her yesterday,will she had planned this? But wait o,is she even really the one that planned this whole thing?



Hmmmm…Maybe i have been deducting a lot from this event anyway,but the after events showed i was right after all….



Ukamaka took me inside to her room,and then told me that she is grateful that i came,and that she wanted to reward me by introducing her sister to me,but she could see that we are getting along well;which is good….Meanwhile,she tried to get me to romance with her a bit,but i declined her and she respected my decision smilingly…We chatted as she asked me about my health and about Amara too,before she finally called her sister into the room,saying she is making us Husband and Wife officially.
