MUM: you are a dred. Everyone was always playing with you, asking when your hair could be shaved and what could be given to you so that your hair could be shaved but you never speak. So, one day, your dad returned from work very happy because he won a contract worth millions of naira and began to play with you, he asked you what he will get for you so that your hair could be shaved and surprisingly to everybody present, you replied saying that you needed him as the bait. He furiously dropped you on the ground as he stared at you with mouth wide opened and i couldn’t stand it and ended up fainting. That was how you began to speak fluently than anybody could imagine. We had no choice than to take you to our church pastor. After lengthy prayers and a week dry fasting, the pastor gave us a message. He said that the spirit that was in you was not evil but only retaliates whenever you became angry. He said that you will be extraordinary in everything you do but will face some trials and troubles. He said that if care is not taken….**started crying**
ME: **scared** what mum?
MUM: he said that if care is not taken, we could lose you
ME: how mum? But you know that i could never leave you no matter what
MUM: i know but you have no power against it. You will die prematurely
ME: what? **shouted**
MUM: i am scared, i asked him of any solution but he said there was none. He said that you are the only person that could stop it and your destiny could control you but you could not control it.
After that day, we were given prayer points which we conducted before your hair was shaved though i fell sick for five days after that only to get well when your dad get you a long hair toy. Despite the fact that the hair was shaved, the spirit was still controlling you though only whenever you are extremely angry. That was why i couldn’t stop you from girls because they are drawn to you
ME: i don’t believe this ** i gasped**
MUM: you have to because that is the truth
ME: then why do my dad decided to take me away from home?
MUM: because you were causing him trouble though it was not your fault. He said that if you are far away, everything will be fine but i never supported that idea because i never trusted Timmy
ME: you never trusted my Uncle?
MUM: he is not your uncle
ME: **confused** what? What do you mean?
MUM: we made you believe that he was your uncle so that he could control you but he is never part of this family. He is just one of those that your dad decided to help
I couldn’t believe what i was hearing. That the man that has been forming classy bossy was not even related to our family. A smile unwillingly flashed through my face before i could control it as i wonder what i was going to do to him
MUM: i am sorry to tell you this but the money that i have been sending to you was never approved by your dad as he preferred sending the sum of one million naira to him every two months for your upkeep but i knew that he will never spend half of that money on you and so decided to be sending money to you as much as i could. You are equally having some money in a fixed deposit account you will have access to when you turn 25years. The money was from all that were gifted to you by people during your birth. Timmy also have some money he inherited from his dad and some properties he will have access to whenever he give birth to a child and………………. nothing more
ME: hope that is all
MUM: yes, nothing is remaining, you can go to your room now
ME: okay mum
I headed out of her room and made my way upstairs. From everything that i gathered from my mum, i knew that i will know how to frustrate Timmy in one or the other. Immediately i stepped into my room, i sighted Ken laying on my bed playing game that he couldn’t notice my present while i walked up to him and pinched him gently
KEN: welcome brother, you frightened me
ME: i am sorry **i sat down while he also sat up** how is school?
KEN: good brother, how did it go with mum?
ME: not bad, i am very happy to see you **peck his forehead**
KEN: **smiling** the same here. Promise me that you will not leave again because i am always lonely
ME: **smiling** i promise
I held him in embrace as tears began to fell from my eyes. We were in that position when the door flung open and i turned to see my sister (Sunshine) and Mira walked into my room
MIRA: **staring at me** i am sorry for everything that has been happening since yesterday Ben and i know how you feel
ME: **silent**
MIRA: please hear her out
SUNSHINE: i know that i have wronged you in so many ways and there is nothing that i could to amend my mistakes most especially catalysing your leaving the house and…………..
ME: **Interrupted** that is not your fault senior sis
SUNSHINE: it is because if i wouldn’t have poured the soup on you, you wouldn’t have gotten angry and…….
ME: i said that it was not your fault because that was not why dad acted. He acted because he has been planning to do so though used that as an excuse
SUNSHINE: **silent**
ME: look sister, the only thing that made angry with you was what you said about me today and nothing more
SUNSHINE: please, i am very sorry **crying** i was beclouded with the thought that you are a bad person despite the fact that i am the one that always find your trouble. Please find a place in your heart to forgive me
ME: i am no longer angry with you or with anybody **i walked up to her and gave her a tight hug amidst tears** i love you
SUNSHINE: i love you too bro. **she replied wiping off her tears** if truly you have forgiven me, i prepared something special for you and it is in the sitting room and not in the dining, you could follow me downstairs
I followed her downstairs but couldn’t get to know what she has for me as my dad phone rang and how he sounded attracted everybody’s attention
DAD: follow me, all of you **he shouted as he hurriedly walked out of the room after dropping the call while we followed him not knowing what was really happening**
