I was busy reading one of the books on prophecy when Kieran suddenly barged into the room. He looked ruffled with his hair all over the place. This wasn’t how he looked when he left the room a while ago to feel the wind despite my warnings. He went straight for our things and asked, no, he ordered me to be on my feet and drop the ugly book I was reading. I didn’t like what he said, so I decided to stay put. He looked at me with an angry stare before taking the things out of the room. I wondered why he was in such a hurry but when I heard him setting the things on the horse I got for us this morning, I knew he wasn’t playing around. I ran quickly to where he was. The horse was tied to the panes of the windows in our room where I could watch it as I didn’t trust the people in this town.

"Why are you in such a hurry?” I asked as he was filled with so much emotions that it was difficult for me to know which he was feeling now.

“Just get on the horse woman.” He said, gritting his teeth. Dear spirits, what an unpredictable man. I got on the horse and quickly he raced out into the path that leads out of the town.

After we have ridden for quite some time, we slowed down a little and got down from the horse. He walked back for a while and stopped. He looked around, searching for something I knew not. He walked back to the horse and started playing with my toes, which shocked me. What is wrong with this man, he was asking strange moments ago, now he is suddenly kind?

“I met a strange woman at the inn when I left the room. I heard her asking about a man that fits my look. She was after me, I went over to speak with her and find out who she is. We spoke for a while and during that period, I found out she wasn’t much of a talker which made her lies quite easy to read. I charmed into letting me follow her room and after we had sex, I was able to find……”

“…..so you slept with her?” He ignored my questions and continued with what he was saying.

“…I was then able to find that she is one of the gorgonds. I have seen such knives before and they are only meant for them. The gordonds are very dangerous people and I am sure you know you can’t use magic against them. If she is after me, then it means…………..”

“…..the mad king wants you.” I completed his statement.

“That’s what is not making any sense to me. why does he want me when he has the same power with me? Why did he kill my wife and daughter when he could have just come after me.” “I am sorry, I wish I could explain everything but I don’t have the answers, my superior does.”
He nodded and got back on the horse as he rode into the night.
