After bath we went for breakfast with Eugene and Sammy. It was then that she had the time to tell us about her experience in Mr Micheal’s captive.
“After marriage, we left for South Africa. He told me he do business not until i gave birth to Sammy, I realised he was into hard drugs, he has a lab in that house were he mixes and package them. When I discovered, I confronted him and the beating began” She paused swallowing her grains.
“I told my mom he hits me and she said I should stay and keep praying. I never told her he deals with drug, she was carried away by the huge amount he sends home to her. No one understood what I was going through, he didn’t let me out of the house since I discovered what he did underneath. He finally did the worse, he wants me to sleep with his partners for money, I bluntly refused and he hit me more. He brought in Sassy suddenly, my phones were seized and i became the house help” She was trying to control her tears, a tear rolled down her eyes and she quickly wiped it off. I felt bad for not listening to her those times, I thought she was so stupid to stay with a woman beater. I was unmarried and I thought she was trying to remain a Mrs, I never knew she was trapped in her marriage.
“Did you talk to the agent?” Ambrose turned to me and i nodded. He asked me to talk to our traveling agents so that Eugene and Sammy would return to Nigeria with us on 20th, a week from now. We have had enough in South Africa, it was worse than staying back in Nigeria.

“Eugene, I am sorry, I didn’t listen to the full story, I should have given you a shoulder to cry on” I stretched my hands across the table and she took it.
“No, I am sorry I hurt your husband” She said feeling guilty and I smiled.
“At least we all are happy and sound” I said getting back to food.

There was silence, Sammy fed his mother childishly and I prayed silently for a child. I was tired of menstruating, I just wanted a child.

“Eguene” Ambrose cleared his throat, I knew what he was going to say so I prepared myself to console Eugene.
“Yes” She responded feeding her boy a sip of juice from her cup.
“We called Apollos, she said your parents are late” I almost cursed Ambrose for slamming it at her so hard. Eugene dropped back into her plastic chair scratching her head. She had my dress and wig on. I stood up and went to stand behind her smooching her shoulders.

“Be strong, thank God you have a visa, in another five days we would be home, you can start all afresh, you have a son at least” I consoled. Ambrose joined me, he stood next to me behind her, he rubbed my back slightly and kissed my cheek. I wondered if he was to console Eugene or touch me. He took off his jacket and tied it around my waist. I knew immediately that I was stained already.

A week later
“Home sweet home, oshey!” Ambrose screamed behind the taxi. Eugene sat next to the driver while Sammy sat in between I and Ambrose.
Ambrose had shown a lot of strength in the past few days, I had only 25days to my birthday, I wondered what he was planning for the bash I smelt to be something big.
“Sammy have you been to the zoo before?” He bent forward kissing Sammy’s cheek.
“No” He replied sharply climbing Ambrose’s lap.
“Ouch, that your father isn’t only useless, he’s boring. I would take you your out, I am your new daddy oo” He kissed him in the stomach and I forced a side smile. Eugene was laughing hysterically at the front seat. How I wish, that I was presently pregnant, I wouldn’t have felt bad when he told Sammy he’s his new dad. I need to work on my fertility, I need a child. My marriage is almost a year and I can’t stand another year without getting pregnant.
