jilted - Season 1 - Episode 29

Ambrose PoV

Haira pinched me so I could release my grip on her, she stood up and excused herself shyly, I followed.

“Go keep her company downstairs now” She said pushing me towards the door.
“I want to stay with you” I tried pulling her into me but she push me away.
“I would swallow my pills and take a nap, let her feel at home, my head aches” She held her head and moved towards the dressing mirror.

“You See, you need me more” I really wanted to stay with Haira, I can’t stand Hanna especially now that my wife wants me to stay with her without a third party.
“Ambrose, she would leave soon, when she’s gone you can come over. Now go” Putting a hand on each side of my waist, she pushed me outside the room and i heard the key turning.

“I just hope I don’t strangle her for you” I whispered trying hard not to upset Haira.
Walking down the stairs with my left hand tugged into my trouser’s pocket, I wonder what she wants in my home.
“My wife isn’t too well, she wants to take a nap, are you hungry? I can get you something in the kitchen” I tried as much as I can to be nice.

“You know how to cook?” She asked smiling, I sat in on the sofa I and Haira sat earlier and she was still sitting on my wife’s favourite sofa.

“I can boil rice and yam, my wife taught me” I said feeling proud of Haira.
“Such a beautiful house” She commented looking around in awe.

“My wife’s taste, she put most of the things in place” I would make sure she leaves here in anger, I wouldn’t stop praising my wife until she’s tired of listening.
“Ambrose, I am sorry for everything” She began “I don’t know I was that bad, I never knew I could lose you just like that” She said with a sober look but who cares?
“You did nothing, you were the rope between I and my soul mate, the most important thing is I am happy, my wife is happy and you are happy too” I said.
“No” She snapped almost immediately “I am not happy!” She busted out crying.
I looked at her for some seconds and hissed in my head, if this is one of her many trucks, it wouldn’t work.

“Care for a stick?” I asked as I opened the drawer attached to the glass center table and brought out a packet of cigarette.
“Thank you” She stretched her hand out and I gave her a stick. She picked up a lighter from the table and lighted her stick.
For few minutes, we both smoked keeping our mouth shut.

“Am I always welcome here?” She broke the silence and I felt upset, why would she want to visit my matrimonial home?
“To see your sister, yes!”
“What if it’s you I want to see?” She asked puffing out a thick cloudy smoke.
“Me? For?” I frowned.

“Anything, we are friends right?” She asked dropping her already small stick on the table.

“You don’t have to come here for me, Just call me” I snapped.

“Your contacts are no longer reachable, so how do I reach you?”
See me see trouble ooo.
“Then call my wife and tell her whatever it’s you want to tell me”
“Ambrose, it’s me ooo Hanna, look at my face” She said beating her chest.
“Have you seen me in my angry mood before? Don’t upset me” I yelled at her, I looked towards the stairs when I remembered my wife could be sleeping.
“I don’t want to scream, Beatrice needs rest and I think you should start leaving” I stood up dropping my stick, I helped her up the sofa and showed her the way.
“Ambrose, it’s unfair” She started crying as she struggled with me.

“Don’t form good girl here, I know you very well and all this forming isn’t even shaking a strand of hair on me so you see? You have failed. Out!” I said as quietly as I can as I pushed her through the aluminum door.

“I am in a big mess, I am depressed. Please help me out, I promise I am not here to cause trouble, I just need to see you often and talk to you and once I get out of this depression, I would leave you alone completely please” She went on her kneels and held my left leg to her face as she cried.

I was touched, i think i would love to help her out of truly she’s depressed as she claimed.
“I would give you my contact but you wouldn’t call me at night, you know I have a wife and I don’t want drama in my home” I said as I raised her up.
“Thank you, thank you. I promise I wouldn’t cause havoc in your marriage” She tried hugging me but I quickly raised my hand asking her to stay back.

I gave her my contact and asked her to leave.
“Friends?” She stretched forth her hand for a shake. I observed the hand for a while before taking it “Friends forever” I smiled and waved her good bye.
