Dial - Season 1 - Episode 125

.
The silence was absolutely profound.
Okomfo Basabasa was staring at Nana b0s0mba, and I was also staring at the Wowo man. Fact was, nobody else could see that wicked apple-chewing man except the two of us, and so they were barely able to comprehend how the men lashing me ended up basically lashing themselves.

Most of them were staring at me as if I were some sort of apparition. Evidently, the all-powerful Okomfo Basabasa had never been made so fragile and vulnerable in their sight.
However, as the fetish priest took a step toward that shimmering image of Nana b0s0mba, cowering and absolutely agitated, almost bending double in obeisance, it became evident that he was seeing something else no one else could see.
I noticed that the image of the Fetish Priest of Wowo had firmed somewhat. It had become more solid, and no longer hazy and wobbly. I saw that he appeared to be standing inside a forest that looked uncannily familiar, and then a moment later it dawned on me…

Nana b0s0mba was standing in the cocoa trees that separated the house of the witch from the river!

His face was as cold as I had ever seen it. He was leaning against a cocoa tree, holding his walking-stick in his right hand. Nana b0s0mba suddenly lifted his left hand, forefinger pointing straight, and then he made circular movements with his forefinger.
.
Immediately the leather strap with their cruel metallic spikes shot up in the air and coiled viciously around Okomfo Basabasa’s neck tightly. The Fetish Priest of Etwe-Pe-Koti groaned and fell to his knees, one hand clutching at his neck as the strap dug in deeper, the other raised in supplication toward Nana b0s0mba.

“b0s0mba Nana, b0s0mba Nana, don’t kill me, don’t kill me!” he groaned with a mixture of pain and fear. “Why’re are you doing this, Nana? Have I crossed you? Have I touched you? Why?”

Tied to the tree trunk, I cackled madly with glee as I watched the man’s agony.
“Aboa bi ba!” I said, and I couldn’t recall the last time I had been so happy about another man’s suffering. “Aboa like you!”
Almost all the people in the shade of the veranda were on their feet, including King Obiba and Abena Adobea.

“You don’t touch the body of that boy!” Nana b0s0mba said harshly. “If he broke your customs, you can do whatever you want to him, but don’t you dare touch his body! I put a curse on him, and you have no audacity to touch a body I have cursed!”
“Oh, b0s0mba Nana, I didn’t know, I didn’t know!” Okomfo Basabasa groaned in anguish. “Forgive me! Please forgive me!”

For a moment, Nana b0s0mba’s eyes glared, and then he shook his fingers in an anti-clockwise manner, and the strap unwound from around the neck of Okomfo Basabasa.

The man fell down, choking as rivulets of blood seeped out of the holes created in his neck from the metallic spikes. I grinned furiously from ear-to-ear, and then I looked at the image of Nana b0s0mba, but he was no longer there.

The vision had vanished.
