Me: No…do you?

Nolly: No…. we’ll just find our way.

We patrolled stores around…. And couldn’t even get anything….

But we were lucky as we got to our last stop … the store was owned by a Nigerian…. Although a very small shop…
We got garri…. Vegetables like okro, efo…. We also got enough turkey…

At least stuffs I could easily cook.

On getting home….

We stormed into the kitchen……

And Nolly sat on the cabinet to watch me cook…

I started boiling the water…. Got my garri ready…..

I prepared enough eba for both of us…..

The food was ready in about 45minutes….

At least… Nolly knew how to prepare that, already.

I slept after the meal….

Next day, back in school…. I went straight to the boys.

We were able to fix a time for our journey..

And I was briefed about all we were to do….

We will fix our own games, bet on the higher odds, and make the higher odds win…

It was fairly legal…

Since me and Nolly were leaving as a couple….

There was nothing to hide…

We got home….

On getting home…


Me: Nolly, so I’ll be going to JB soon.

Nolly: Okay… with Seun and Tola..

Me: Yes… Tomorrow we’ll be leaving…

Nolly: Jide, I’m not okay with that… I want to come with you.

Me: It’s not possible Nolly… you can’t come with me…. It can’t happen

Nolly: I’m coming with you and that’s final.

I immediately called Seun.

Seun: you no dey go again abi?

Me: Guy calm down now…. Na Nolly dey talk say she wan come o.

Seun: Ehn nothing dey now… make she come if she wan come.

Me: Ehn ehn. Okay… later then.

Me: So we’ll be leaving tomorrow.

Nolly: When are we returning?

Me: I’ve no idea yet.

Nolly: But Jide, what do you want? I just feel this journey is not necessary.

Me: See, you can’t understand… so let’s not digress…

It was getting dark…. I parked some of my clothes…. And went to sleep
The next morning…

We woke up early… went to school to meet Seun and Tayo
When we got there, we had to wait 30minutes before they were finally ready
We were taking a train to JB.

We dressed casually…

In 1 hour approximately, we were in Johannesburg…

Seun and Tayo were to lead the way….
We lodged in a hotel in a very discreet street.

Nolly wasn’t okay with the idea as she didn’t hesitate to complain…

The boys were not to okay with it.

In our room, I remembered the offer that Seun and Tayo were trying to put in place then….concerning Nolly….

I decided to talk to them that evening…


Me: Guys, yawa dey o.

Seun: Wetin again… e sure me say na Nolly matter.

Me: I just dey go through her phone dey check her sms…. She don yarn her popsi where she dey… in case anything wan happen…

Seun: Ehn, how that one Pour concern us…

Me: Me I just dey talk my own….

Tayo: This guy sef dey do like small pikin…

Seun: ahn… e never reach that one….

I got out of their room, I knew whatever plan they had concerning Nolly must have already been foiled.

Nolly: Are you okay?

Me: Yes… should we go outside for a while…

We went out of the room….

Nolly: See Jide, I’m not okay with all these…

Me: With what? Baby, I didn’t force you to come with me… although, I’m okay with it.

Nolly: That’s not the point. What are you doing with Seun and Tola here…. It doesn’t make any sense.

Me: Okay…. Calm down…. And let’s talk this through.

The evening came…. We went to the casino…

I hadn’t been in one before… so everything looked weird.

There were ladies as well as old men…. Young guys….

The security detail was very obvious as they dressed in customized t-shirts.

We entered and we were approached by a black man…. He exchanged greetings with Tola as he led us into an inner room…


Man: So where is he?

Tola: This is him sir….*pointing to me*

All this while, Nolly held my arm tight….

Man: With the girl?
Nolly freed my arm….

Me: Yes sir….

Man: Okay my brother…. What’s the name?

Me: Jide sir.

Man: Anyway boys, let’s get to action…

As we were going to continue our journey… allowing Nolly to move forward…the man pulled me back…

Man: You can’t allow her to come in here…

Me: Sir, that’s my girlfriend….
And I trust her.


Man: I know… but you know girls with their mouth… very unpredictable.

Me: Sir, this one… I trust… and she’s going to be with me all through.
He let go off my arm….

We entered this room that was only lit by the light coming from the laptop screen…

There were other computer servers around also…

Me: Is the casino online sir?

Man: Yes… How did you know…

Me: I only guessed…

Man: Well, that’s a wide guess…
Of course, seeing servers automatically tells something is online.

But I wasn’t ready to disclose myself…
I sat down in front of the laptop as the man put me through their database.

In no time, I understood everything…

Everybody got seated as we tried to do the first deal of the day.

We played the virtual games and fixing the odds ourselves….

This, we were able to select the winners ourselves.

That night…. In naira.

Tola made about 250k, Seun made 250k, the man made 250k, and I made 300k
In total, that was about 1.1million naira….

We had to close with the casino so we waited till 12am before we left the place.
On getting to our room…

Nolly started weeping… she had just witnessed a massive fraudulent act in less than 6 hours….

I was still excited about this business, because there was no way we were going to be caught…

So instead of petting Nolly…. I went to sleep early.
