Third dial………
“Hello?”

Her mother’s voice floated through the reciever…

“Hello mommy its me”
“ehen I know its you, good afternoon ma”
“good afternoon mommy”
“how are you how is Abuja, I hope you are enjoying it?…..err no give him 5cartons…yes ehen”
“ma? ” Ngozi asked confused.

“oh sorry I was talking to them here to attend to a customer, ehen what did you say happened?”
“ok. Yes, err….nothing happened…”
“eh?”
“yes mommy, how is everybody?,”
Mrs Philo paused… ”everybody is fine and good, Nneka came back the same day you left, I spoke to ijeoma on the phone just before you called she said she s on her way home that they closed today”

Ngozi didn’t know how to start of what she had to say….she didn’t know thee exact words to use….

“ok mommy I want to come back to Lagos” she said, with a wide-open eye, expecting her mother to become alarmed.

“hello you said what?, sorry network problem”.

Ngozi groaned, pheew how would she say this thing now?!

“mommy nothing” she finally blurted into the phone.

“ok” Her mother replied.

“how are they treating you there? Hope all is well oh and you feel at home and comfortable?, how are err obinna and uloma?”
“they are fine ma”
“er ok”
“ok hav a nice day ma” Ngozi finally said and waited…

Her mother hung up….

She fell back on the bed….
