“I don’t know why this girl wants to drag me to her room” Val murmured as he stood in front of Vivy’s door. He brought out his handkerchief and wiped his face which could best be described as ‘oil producing company’. He felt his face again and feeling satisfied, he knocked.
“Who is there?” Came a female voice from inside.

Val contemplated on what to answer on his mind, “it’s me, Val.”
“Come in,” came a different voice.

Val hesitated before giving the door a gentle push. He was already wondering if Vivy was in the room. As he walked into the room, he looked around but didn’t see Vivy, he only saw three girls, two gisting and one sleeping or forming to be.

He cleared his throat and was about asking the two girls about Vivy when one of them spoke up.

“Vivy said you should wait for her. Just make yourself comfortable in her corner over there” the second girl said pointing towards Vivy’s corner.

“Ok, thank you. But please do you have any idea where she went to?” Val asked.

“She just went down to pick something and will soon be back” the fair girl that have been doing most of the talking replied.

“Ok thank you” Val said and sat down on Vivy’s bed.

The fair girl came around to Vivy’s rack and searched for her pictures. When she found them, she handed them over Val who collected them with a smile and a thank you.

Like a joke, one hour thirty minutes passed and Vivy was not yet back. He checked his phone and it was 8 O’clock already. He was becoming very uncomfortable and tired of waiting. He tried calling her number but it was switched off.

“Abeg which down stairs she go buy the something?” He asked the girls feeling annoyed.

“Just down there, she should be on her way coming back” the fair girl replied.

“This is the third time you are telling me this same story?” Val said trying to hold his growing anger.

“Ok let me go and look for her”, the ebony colored girl that has been doing the listening part to their gist volunteered.

Thirty minutes ticked by and the girl that went to look for Vivy was not back yet neither was Vivy. Val at this point stood up and made for the door. The fair girl rushed to the door and blocked him from leaving. Val was surprised. He looked at the girl and didn’t know what to say because he was very annoyed.

“Wait a little more, she will should be on her way back.” The girl repeated just her normal phrase.

“Thunder fire……………..,” he withdrew his statement before he could blurt it out. “See get out of my way before you ask me to remind you your name in the next few seconds” Val calmly told the girl.

The calmness with which he said that got the girl so afraid that she didn’t wait for another second before making way for him to pass.

As he walked down the stairs to the first floor, he kept hipping curses on Vivy.

Na only thunder go help me fire that girl. Shebi na me she do this kind thing abi…… No problem.

I no even blame her, shebi na me find her trouble come. If to say I dey my room how this kin thing for take happen. Chai! I don suffer, wetin dey go call this kin thing kwanu?

Mtcheww! I don suffer, he continued talking to himself as he walked down the stairs.

As if all the time wasted was not enough, Val because of the heat of his anger didn’t notice a pond of moody water beside the road until he step and slipped into it. This was the height of it. He stood up; everything he wore was soaked and dripping water. And to make it worse it was on a main road in front of two other female hostels with cars and motorcycles flashing their headlights and mostly all directed towards him. Chai!! I don die was what came out of his mouth. He looked around for a while and within five seconds he figured out what to do. He bent down and collected his moody footwear and before anybody could say jack he zoomed off and did not stop till he was at his door.

30 minutes later in Vivy’s room
“Why didn’t you delay him a bit longer?” Vivy asked the fair girl in her room.

Obi pretended not to have heard the question and continued clipping her nails.

“Just a little favor and you couldn’t do it” she continued now shouting at Obi.
This time Obi looked up very annoyed herself. “What’s your problem? Why are you shouting at me? How could you keep somebody waiting for you here for more than two hours, left to God knows were and expect me to look after him? Do I look like the chief security officer of this school to you? See next time you are going to do this kind of rubbish, don’t get me involved in it ok?” Obi retorted very annoyed.
