Unavoidable Nemesis

I sat in front of the hall because our names have been mentioned already am the fifth person, the first
person start and then my mind started beating very loud, I don’t know why am scared or is it because
am not focus? I keep seeing adaeze with her pregnancy and when they mentioned my name I didn’t
know, someone had to touch me before I realized that it was my turn.

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen” I started.

My mind wasn’t on it because as I see the crowd I got scared, it was like they were all marked with 666, I
open my mouth but nothing came out.
“Mr man we are waiting for you” that’s my project supervisor, I stood there like someone lost in the
underworld.

“Oh well it seems like you are not ready, leave the stage and go and prepare” the chairman said.

As I was about leaving the stage someone in complete white walk in, she was wearing white suit like an
angel, her beauty and movement took everybody by surprise because my mercy has never dress like this
before, seeing her like that some kind of energy flow inside me that I didn’t know when I walk back and
collect the microphone.

“Am sorry sir and am ready now” I said.

“Okay it seems like the lady that just walk in gave you some kind of boost, let’s hear what you have to
say” the project chairman said.

He is right because I never stop looking at mercy till I drop the mic, and after my speech they all clap for
me, mercy smile.

I thank God it was successful, I left the hall and walk to room 101, I was hearing what they were saying
from down and when I heard mercy name, I smile and took my things, I enter the hall again and saw her
speaking as if she’s preaching, nothing can be compared to her courage and energy, the moment she
drop the mic I took my things and walk out from the hall, on my way home and almost getting to the
gate I heard my name and when I look back I saw the angel coming to me.

“Mercy” I said as she came closer.

“Congrats on your successful defence” she said.

“Congrats to you too” I said.

“So what now?” she ask.

“Oh well am leaving tomorrow, nothing to do here again” I said as we walk home together.
