I woke up with Broda’s arms wrapped around my body. I turned to look at his face. He was snoring lightly with his mouth slightly opened. I laughed because he always swore he slept with his mouth closed.

I planted a kiss on his lips and his eyes fluttered open. He pushed me away and sat up.

“Wetin time dey talk?” He didn’t wait for my answer as he looked up at the wall clock.
“Shiit! Why you no wake me?” He looked at me accusingly.

“I just wake now now.”
He hissed and got up from the mattress. He mistakenly stepped on my leg as he tried to cross over my body.

“Ye! My leg!” I cried out.
He ignored me and hurriedly searched his bag for clothes to wear. He wore a black jean trouser with grey shirt. He picked up his phone and walked out of the room.
My body still ached from the beating. I wanted to sleep but the room was in a mess. I decided to sleep after cleaning up the room.
I got up lazily from the mattress. I removed the bedspread and pillowcases, they needed washing. I dumped them in a corner and walked to the clothes basket to pick out clean ones.

As I brought out clothes from the basket in search of a bedspread, a pack of sanitary pads fell out.

It dawned on me that I had missed my period that month.
