The Changing Tides - Season 1 - Episode 22

When she was discharged Maria had gone back to the streets and slept under the bridge. She had
cried all this night on how her baby was being exposed to the streets. She decided to find work the
following day but it was hard to get a job with a baby, all the money she had saved up was used
up on the baby things she bought and what she had been eating since she stopped selling fruits
her business had collapsed when she started having high BP during pregnanc .

Maria remembered how much she went round begging for Any kind of work but it was like
everyone had shut their ears.

For 4 whole months Maria had struggled to stay on the streets with a new baby until one day she
bumped into Doro.

She shook her head recalling how Doro convinced her to start prostitution. Now that it was too
late, Maria thought. How was she going to get away from the dark path she was deep into.?
She felt that Paul’s offer to help her was too good to be true.

“How will a man trust me after knowing I used my body to get money,” she thought of the stories
she heard of men mistreating their wives.
” How am I going to convince him to stop misbehaving if at all he would start betraying me, when
the shame and guilty of what I have done will haunt me for life?”

Maria thought of how she was going to face Margret and her family,
“no way” she sighed.

“Am not going to face the eyes of the people that so much trusted me. By now every one knows
what I have done and maybe they won’t even allow Paul to be with me anymore.

“Well God, since you have turned a deaf ear on me. Am not going to sit here and cry anymore. I
give up on crying, am going out there and am going to do whatever I can to make money and
survive. You left me to the hands of the evil one and so am going out, sleep with men, get their
money and live like there’s no tomorrow. Watch me destroy my life and when you decide to
redeem me then do it or finish me off ” she said wipping her tears and grabbing her night clothes.

She did her make up and put on her head the long weave with a fringe. She got in her heels and stormed out like a mad person, by the time it was dark outside.

For the first time Maria accepted a beer from the first man that offered her and she went to dance
on the dance floor while everyone watched her well contoured body.

She was so drunk she wouldn’t stop dancing and smilling.

“Yeah! ” She screamed on top of her voice.
“This is my life!” She smiled grabbing a glass of wine from a table some men sat watching.

“Can I?” She staggared as she lifted the wine.

“sure beautiful,” the man near her smiled touching her exposed thighs.

Maria went in front of him and danced seductively as the man struggled to keep his pants down.
