“I said it… I know my good deed will surely be mistaken for misdeed. What do you expect me to do? I should leave her in her own pool of blood unconsciously, so that she can die there, right?” Daniel yelled loudly at the interrogating soldier and the soldier landed a thunderous slap on Daniel cheek in which Daniel fainted instantly.

“What do you have to say on this? Only the two of you are the suspects.” The soldier asked directing his question.
“Daniel! Daniel!!” I called helplessly but it seemed the soldiers don’t really care for him.

“I’m talking to you.” The enraged soldier yelled and I looked at him dejectedly.
“Uniform man, we know nothing about this, or must we be false and fake? Princess is our good friend, her sister knew us very well, we do go the bus stop together; there her sister picked her up and we also enter bus. Sir, it was just a coincidence.” I replied boldly.
“Nice one. I love your gut!” The Warrant officer commented forcing a smile.
“Torture them until they confess truthfully.” The Warrant Officer commanded the sergeants and he rose on his feet and he left the welfare for his office. Daniel was waked by a furious soldier with just a pitch from a needle.

“Aaaaarrrrrhhhhh…” I groaned in pain as the sergeant lashes me with his belt mercilessly.

It was now evening time and Mama has come back from the market; she checked the kitchen and my food left there untouched.
“Ola hasn’t return back from school?” Mama asked knocked for six.
“This is few minutes to six, I expect him to be in the field by now… okay, let me check for him in the field, he must be there.” Mama concluded and she ties a veil on her head as she headed for the field. She got to the field but to her surprise no one was on the field. Only the playing goats, c---s and hens could be seen playing happily.
“What’s happening? Daniel and Ola suppose to be in the field, no one is here.” Mama spook softly just then she heard a voice calling her from behind.
“Mama Ola!” The voice called and Mama move closer to her Igbo neighbor.
“Please, I came back from the market now and I didn’t meet Ola at home, please hasn’t he returned from school?” Mama elucidated with mixed feeling.
“Mama Ola, so you never hear say your pikin and im friend Daniel; that troublesome boy were arrested by soldiers in school today.” Mama Uchena clarified and her statement left Mama mouth opened in agape.
“You mean O…la was arrested by soldiers?” Mama asked in disbelief.
“Yes, Mama Ola, I don tell you tey tey say make you warn your pikin from walking with that yeye boy Daniel or wetin he call himself.” Mama Uchena enunciated but Mama only walked away in dismay leaving her with no reply to her unexplainable statements.

Mama got into the house with tears in her eyes. She was really disappointed and confused.
“So Ola was really arrested by soldiers?” Mama cried softly.
“I know he must have been arrested for a heavy offence, despite all my advices and counseling on him.” Mama continued with tears in her eyes.
“Ola…” Mama sighted as the light faded gradually.

“Please Sir… please sir talk to us.” Daniel’s mother begged with tears in her eyes.
“I said I don’t know anything about it, all I know is that a battalion of soldier came to my office yesterday and they told me they came to arrest Daniel and Ola because they are rapists that raped a girl yesterday.” Mr. Chorus elucidated falsely.
“Rape?” Mama and Daniel’s mother yelled in disbelief.
“Yes, those boys are really tormenting, they are very dangerous and they believe that they can do thing they wish without any one stopping them.” Mr. Chorus uttered with composure.
“You don’t train those boys at all, they lack respects and manners, they are just manner-less and rude.” Mr. Chorus stated just then he heard a knock at his office door.
