ONCE A LOVER - Season 1 - Episode 26

“What? You mean Mr. Anume doesn’t come to school today?” I asked confusingly.
“You’d better pull out the wools inside your ears, so that you can hear me very well. Idiot!” The female senior rebutted and she left hissing.
.

“Ola, I think it is high time we started going home, maybe she has went home, maybe something urgent happened and she has to leave… let just go home, I am really tired of waiting fruitlessly.” Daniel made a fuss and I riposted.
“I know Princess very well, she will never leave the school without saying goodbye, I sense something suspicious is happening.” I riposted suspiciously.

“Okay, stay there, have you forgotten you had a fight with her earlier today? Maybe… Ola, please let go home, the worms in my stomach are wrestling one another.”Daniel concluded and he picked up his bag.
“Okay, let go since you insisted you can’t wait for a darling friend of yours.” I concluded and I wrapped my polythene bag under my arm.

“Ola, what about the principal’s phone, when are we giving him?” Daniel began as we shambled to the bus-stop.
“That phone? Don’t worry, I know what to do.” I concluded.

We got to the bus-stop around ten minutes to three and the bus there were very scanty since many students has gone home.
“Ola! Ola!!” An earsplitting voice called from behind and I turned back to look at the caller behold it was Princess’ sister.
“Ola, I have been calling you since why don’t you respond?” Princess’ sister questioned and she heaved a heavy sigh of relief.

“Good afternoon sister.” Daniel and I greeted in chorus.
“Good afternoon, where is Princess?” Princess’ sister asked suspiciously.
“Princess?” Daniel and I sighed astonished.
“Or she doesn’t come to school today?” Princess’ sister asked doubtfully.
“She came to school but she was summoned by a teacher few minutes after break time and since then I haven’t set my eyes on her.” I replied and Princess’ sister raised her hands up and she landed it on her head.

“Princess has not been in school since morning?” She asked distrustfully.
“Yes.” Daniel replied confusingly.
“The teacher that summoned her, is the teacher a male or a female?” Princess’ sister asked with composure.
“The teacher is a male and he is the school disciplinarian.” Daniel replied restraining me from answering the question that was directed to me.
“Please, let go to the school, I have to see the principal.” Princess’ sister concluded and she ran to the white Venza.
“Please walk fast.” Princess’ sister screamed and we increased our pace.

LOCATION: C.H.S (THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE)
“Thank you, you can wait for her outside.” Mr. Chorus appreciated and waved us off and Daniel and I walked out of his office.
“Ola, please hold this bag for me, I want to ease myself in the toilet and I will branch to pluck some mangos in the shallow bush…” Daniel elucidated but I barged into his words.
“Bush? Daniel, don’t do anything silly this afternoon o…” I riposted but unfinished.
“Do you want those angry worms in my stomach to turn their protest to riot and violent? Do you want them to mistakenly or deliberately hurt some vital organs in my body? I have to pluck some mangoes to quench my hunger and to please the mad and outraged worms in my stomach.” Daniel clarified and he handed his bag to me.
“Daniel… hmmm…” I sighed and I got myself a bench to sit.

“Body no be firewood jare, I no be tree.” I spook serenely as I held the wrought chair with a flat stone.

Daniel was singing melodiously as he was trying to make his way to the fruitful mango tree located very close to the school poultry.
“Yeee.” Daniel groaned in pain and he held his stomach firmly.

“These worms are really mad o, they don’t even consider me.” He voiced out serenely and the rumbling of his stomach could be heard loudly.

“Hummm.” Daniel sighed.
“My mess can kill a lion.” He commented and he covered his nose with his handkerchief.

“Ah! Ah!!” A faint and pale whispering could be heard from a distance groaning in pain. Daniel listened carefully and the faint whispering could be heard clearly.
“What could that sound be? Is it from spirit?” Daniel asked rhetorically.
“Let me run for my dear life o, else those wicked spirit will penetrate into one body and they will be controlling one ungodly.” Daniel concluded and he picked up a stick and he was about turning back when the whispering could be heard even more loudly.
“This is not a voice from a spirit o, let me trace the voice, I know I can’t die and even if I die, na one dey man go die na.” Daniel concluded and he gave out a smile.

Daniel plucked a mango and he was eating it as he was tracing the faint whispering. A female student in the school uniform could be seen from a distance; Daniel moved back a bit because he had heard stories of spirit altering into human.

“Who are you?” Daniel asked confusingly. He was now courage-less and confused. He was equally powerless and suspicious; he felt a chronic headache instantly.

“Ah!” The female student groaned in pain more and Daniel moved closer to her. Guess what.

“What!” Daniel screamed surprisingly at what he saw.
“Princess, what’s wrong with you? Why are you here?” Daniel questioned confusingly and surprisingly but Princess was unable to utter just a single word, rather she groaned in more pain.

“What should I do?” Daniel murmured confusingly. Daniel backed Princess and he brought her out of the bush.
“Princess, please wake up.” Daniel hit her gently but she doesn’t respond.
“Aunty!” Daniel screamed loudly and Princess’ sister ran out of the Principal’s office shockingly.

“What am I seeing?” Princess’ sister asked as she ran to the scene.
“Aunty, I saw…” Daniel tried to explain but Princess’ sister rebutted.
“Call the driver for me.” Princess’ sister commanded and Daniel flew like flash to the driver and in a jiffy Daniel was back with the driver.

“Where is Ola?” Daniel barked loudly directing his question to puzzled Mr. Chorus.
“He is outside the school gate, I sent him on an errand.” Mr. Chorus responded instantaneously and the car speed off.

“Ola let go.” Daniel yelled loudly and I ran to the Venza car.

“What’s wrong?” I asked confusingly.
“Come into the car and stop asking jamb question.” Daniel blasted and I was allowed into the car.

The driver drove skillfully and professionally, despite the mad and tormenting hold-up we are able to make it to the hospital in less than 20 minutes.
