The haunted bride - Season 2 - Episode 7

“Sorry to burst your bubble, I don’t like her like that. I just see her as a younger sister.” He couldn’t let Elena or anyone else know about his feelings. He planned to kill his emotions and have a very formal relationship with her.

Somehow, Seun didn’t believe it.
“If you think that’s best, no problem. I will be working with your writing team for Demon Hall2,” Seun winked. He wouldn’t allow Elena know that he was a partner with Aniekan; he enjoyed her company and couldn’t wait to see her again.
Aniekan struggled to get rid of the clump in his chest. He found it difficult to breathe as Seun kept going on and on about Elena.
“Can we talk about something else please?” Aniekan snapped at his friend.
“Oh, I didn’t know talking about her offended you. I am sorry bro.”
“Now, what do you want us to talk about?”
Apart from Elena’s case, there was something else that bothered him. Seun was a very trustworthy person, and he could share his burden.

“I think my brother is up to something.” Aniekan started.

Seun had never flowed well with Ese. Aniekan’s older brother was an irresponsible man who wanted to live the rest of his life on his younger brother’s money; instead of making his own.
“What did he do?” Seun asked.
“He asked me about the prototype of Demon Hall1 but in a very tricky manner. I think he is up to something. I just don’t know what.”
“Hmm,” Seun didn’t have what to say yet, but he advised his friend to hide the prototype where no one would be able to reach it. Aniekan knew that hiding the chip that contained the prototype wouldn’t be easy. But one thing was certain; it was time to get the chip out of the White House.
Seun had an old uncle who lived in the outskirt of town. Uncle George was an old widower who lived a very quiet life. Apart from the contracts he got with a foundation, he didn’t have much going on in his life.
“What’s special about an old man who lives in the outskirt of town? This chip means everything, not just to me, but all the partners involved. If I fall, we’re all going to sink.” Aniekan wasn’t comfortable about handing his chip over to some reclusive old person.
Seun brought the car to a stop, as they reached a fast-food where they would have some lunch.

“Uncle George actually lives in an underground house. No one knows that he is staying here. You need to trust me on this one.”

After waiting aimlessly for four hours in the office, with no drop of inspiration, Elena had decided to return to the White House on her own. Luckily for her, CJ was going her way, so he had dropped her off.
She closed her eyes and pulled in sufficient quantity of clean air as she marched confidently towards the white building. Her fortune had changed overnight. Maybe it was time for her to write more fake stories about public figures. The thought of doing this, amused her.

She greeted the gateman and marched straight into the mansion. The car, with which Aniekan had driven her to work, wasn’t parked. He wasn’t at home. Elena wondered where he had gone to. Well, she had to mind her business now. Aniekan had bestowed upon her a great responsibility. Her pictures were splashed all over social media, and she had a feeling that mainstream media had carried the news.

Her angelic face, wrinkled into a frown as she noticed Ese storming out of the house. She had a strong aversion towards Aniekan’s brother and the inconsiderate lawyer, who had treated her like a prisoner. Now that Aniekan had forgiven her, she would carefully avoid those two. She walked past Ese without a word of greeting and this irked the huge man.

“Elena!” He followed her behind, and quickly grabbed her wrist.
Elena scoffed and pulled back with all of her strength.

“Don’t you ever put your filthy hands on me! You are a beast!” She yelled at him.
Ese gritted his teeth angrily, “I don’t know what spell that you have cast on my brother, but you will be disgraced out of this house. You do not belong here. You’re just an opportunistic schemer.”

Elena smiled; she wasn’t scared of his frame at all.

“It seems someone learned new words from the dictionary.” She mimicked him,
“You’re just an opportunistic schemer.”
Ese felt humiliated. The only thing that stopped him from ending this girl, once and for all, was Ada’s advice.

“I do not blame you at all. If Aniekan had listened to his lawyer, you wouldn’t be scavenging in this house.”
Elena scoffed, “Well, if scavenging is such a crime, what are you still doing in your brother’s house?”

After dropping the bomb, she walked away briskly. She knew she had struck Ese, where it will hurt most. She was tired of people pushing her to the wall. She was tired of people telling her that she didn’t deserve the position that she was given.
Fine, she had made a mistake by writing that article, but she had learned a great lesson and she was never going to repeat the mistake. She had risen above it. One thing was for sure, if Ese and Ada wouldn’t let her live in peace, she would return to her home and work from there.

“Bullies everywhere…” she sighed and closed her eyes. Remember, that this was still her first time in the white house, so she had lost her way. Elena noticed that she had gone into a wrong direction, when she observed how quiet and how dark this wing of the house was.

Also unknown to her, was the fact that Idara, the housekeeper, had witnessed her little exchanged with Ese. Her boldness had terrified Idara, who knew the wicked things that Ese and Ada were capable of.
“I need to warn her. I have to give her a clue somehow. She must be careful…” Idara had whispered from her hiding place.

Elena sighed and leaned against the wall. She was exhausted from the day’s activities. She decided to sit still in the dark for a few minutes. Solitude was her own way of detoxing, whenever the negative energy got too much.

Tears stung her eyes as she recalled every negative word that someone had spoken to her. Everything had started with Aniekan. For some reason, he still saw her as a budding child. How could that even be? Most guys that she had come across praised her for her wisdom and maturity. Aniekan was different. He saw a child in her, and that image he had, hurt her more than anything.

A soft wind travelled through the dark hallway. Elena couldn’t explain it, but she felt a dress, brushing past her thigh. She didn’t react. She sat still and kept her eyes closed. She had to see the end of this. She was a hundred percent sure, that she wasn’t hallucinating.

She allowed the tears to run down her chin. She felt better as each strand rolled across. She felt lighter after each sob. When she was ready to leave for her room, she heard a female voice, very loud and clear.
