The haunted bride - Season 2 - Episode 3

Regina had tried severally to get close to Seun, but he had a way of pushing her away. At first, she had thought he was engaged or in a serious relationship, but after doing some research, Regina had concluded that Seun didn’t feel the same for her. And she had no option, but to stay away from him. Seun was her boss’ best friend, and she couldn’t risk Aniekan finding out about her advances towards Seun.

Seeing this incredibly attractive lady’s hands, securely tucked in Seun’s, made her jealous. Who the hell was she?
“Oh, I didn’t know that you had been promoted to Chief Security Officer,” Seun’s eyes twinkled with laughter. He could smell the jealousy from Regina. It was raw. It was peppery. It was spicy. And he found it amusing, because he had no amorous business with Elena, at least not yet.
Regina stiffened as she watched him laugh. Elena found Seun’s statement very funny, but she bit her lip. This lady didn’t like her, laughing at Seun’s joke would make things worse. Elena didn’t know anyone here. She had come to make friends, and not enemies. She wanted a perfect and healthy working environment, so she could give out her best.
“You shouldn’t rejoice too soon, I could arrest you for coming late.” Regina hissed loudly, with this, she walked right past them without looking back.
Elena released the hot breath that she had been holding.

“Christ! Is this how hot Games Village is?” Elena shook her head. She didn’t know how long that she would last. She needed to get into people’s good books, so they could stand with her, against toxic people like Ms. Short Skirt.

Seun had sensed Elena’s discomfort. He released her hand as they marched into the hall, side by side.

“You need to be stronger Elena. I am surprised that a girl, like you could write such a powerful piece about Aniekan but you found it difficult to look Regina in the eyes.”
Okay, Ms. Short Skirt’s name was Regina. Elena was curious. Who was she? And what role did she play in Games Village?
“It’s my first time in here, you cannot blame me. I need to be modest, submissive and polite. I need to observe those I will be working with, and those I should carefully avoid.” Elena replied with boldness. She want afraid of Ms. Short Skirt or her likes. She just wanted to observe such people for a while.

Seun loved what he heard. He had a strong feeling that Elena wasn’t as soft as her eyes portrayed. She had a fiery spirit. She was strong. She wouldn’t let anyone manipulate or control her.

“So, who is this Regina and where does she work?” Elena replied. Her eyes ran over the massive hall, which had over five hundred chairs. Again, she felt intimidated. The caliber of men and women that had already occupied front and middle seat, made it clear, that she was underdressed for this meeting.
“Regina is your boss’ secretary. You’ll be seeing her a lot around here. One advice, don’t let her smell that you are weak.”
Elena swallowed and nodded.

The seats were maroon in color, and the material they were made out of, seemed very soft and comfortable. There was an enormous screen on the wall; Elena guessed it was useful for presentations. Before the screen, was a glassy podium, upon which a laptop was placed. The elevated platform would be meant for the speaker or speakers. The wind freezing wind from the air conditioner blew towards where she stood, and she felt slightly cold. Her chest fluttered, her tummy rumbled, as she remembered the figure that she had seen at the White House.
Aniekan had been conversing with some board members when he had noticed some murmuring. He raised his head, and found Seun and Elena walking into the hall together. He tried to shake off the jealousy that he had felt away, but the emotion tugged at his sleeves.

Elena seemed relaxed and comfortable with Seun. This wasn’t a problem. What if Seun grew to like her? And what if Elena liked Seun back in return?

Why am I even thinking about that? Aniekan felt like punching himself in the face. He had seen the look of desire in Elena’s eyes, back in the car. He imagined her, staring at his best friend in the same manner.
“Concentrate,” he mumbled to himself as he mounted the glassy podium. Elena was old enough to do whatever that she wanted with her life. That was totally her business. He still had good plans for her. Though he hadn’t discussed it with her, Aniekan felt Elena would be a good creative writer. Already, he had gone through some articles that she had written on her blog. Elena was good. And he was going to need her services.
“Good morning all!” He s----d in a deep breath and firmly placed his hands on the glassy material.

At once, the murmuring ended and all those who were outside, rushed in. The boss was in control. Everyone surrendered to his authority.
“As you all know, Demon Hall is the biggest game that I will ever design. It takes me a month or two to design a game; but Demon Hall took more than that. I have been working on this game for two years now….”he paused and watched the eager faces of his listeners.

They seemed please, and curious to see the unveiling of this special game.
“I created Demon Hall out of nothing. The inspiration to design such a powerful game, came after I had lost someone very important. But with this game, I could distract my mind. I felt in control in my life. I could gather the pieces back.”

Just in time, his eyes clashed with Elena’s eyes. She seemed to pity him, like she felt bad about the person he lost. Aniekan blinked and looked away. He couldn’t let anyone in. No one could ever understand what Imaobong had meant to him.

“Demon Hall is about the different realms and spiritual planes that exist. Humans were once controlled by demons; but as the world evolves, they have been able to solve their own problems, without the help of supernatural powers. Here lies the problem, the demons derive their powers from the allegiance and worship of their followers. Without humans, they will be nothing! There is a clash between demons and the strongest of humans. Who will emerge conqueror?”
When he was done talking, the lights on the extra large screen came alive. And the rest of the bulbs in the hall were turned off. While the room remained dark, the screen grew brighter.

The intro of the game was a soft alto voice that rendered classical music in Nordic. Her voice was perfect. It was as gentle as the morning breeze, and as mysterious as the cry of the owl bird. Her voice was as eerie as the images that followed.
A huge grotesque figure with a long and silver blade stood in the middle of the screen. It tapped the blade thrice on the floor.
“I am Qhan! Maker of rain! King of the Moon and Sunny realms. I will destroy the humans!” Qhan fixed the silver blade on the ground and roared in a deep voice. His roar was disastrous, to the demon realms and the human world; as the earth where he stood, began to shake.
