RITA: So where is he and how’s he doing now?

DOCTOR: The people over there? (he said point to the woman was crying earlier) those are his parents and I have already told them what they need to know miss.

What nonsense, I wonder how they treat we the poor in this country. So because I’m a nobody I have no right to know how the person I saved is doing?

RITA: So you are saying in one word is that you can’t tell me anything about the man?

He nodded yes so I turned my back and started going home. I was about to open the door when a nurse came running like the whole hospital was on fire. I came back I don’t know why but I was worried I thought maybe something bad has happen to the guy I brought.

NURSE: Doctor, doctor the man is awake and his asking after the girl he knocked down. I made a sign of the cross and turn to leave since the man was already awake. The doctor stopped me and ask me to go and see the guy but I turn him down,

RITA: I asked about his condition and you told me I have no right to know and now you want me to go and see him? I know my right sir.

DOCTOR: I’m sorry, I don’t have a reason but just forgive me.

I sign and follow him to the ward the guy is. When we got in, immediately he saw me, his eyes was filled with tears. He asked the doctor to excuse us and he did.

KOLA: I’m so sorry, I’m sorry I hit you with my car, I couldn’t live with myself if anything had happened to you. (his tears dropped more) please forgive me.

RITA: Is ok, I’m fine so no need for this tears and apologies.

He asked me to come and sit beside him on the bed, I did and he held my hands, I wasn’t comfortable at first but I just did it because I didn’t want to hurt him.

KOLA: Please forgive me. What’s your name (still in tears)

RITA: I’m Rita Johnson.

KOlA: I’m kola owolabi.

RITA: Yes I know, I met your parents outside.

KOLA: I wanted to see you first and ask for your forgiveness.

RITA: But if I may asked, what happened, I mean what were you thinking when driving.

Immediately I asked that question his eyes went red, like I had said something wrong, he was silent for sometime then I got up from his side.

RITA: I’m sorry if I asked the wrong question, now that you are ok, I should start going. I was about leaving when he held my hands and said “please sit I will tell you everything” I sat down beside him again.

KOLA: Two weeks ago was my birthday, I didn’t want to celebrate it but my family insisted I so I did.
