The three hefty boys ran into our house and scattered everything they could lay their hands on. They took all the papers of our land and gave them to Mazi Uche.


Mazi Uche: Good work boys. Here is your money. You can now go…

Boys: thank you very much sir.
They said and left happily with a smile on their face. Just then, my mother came outside with a frown on her face.
Mum: mazi uche! Mazi uche!! What’s the meaning of all these rubbish you are doing?
Mazi Uche: and who told you I am doing rubbish you this witch. I am here to stop all your evil plans.
Mum: what evil plans are you talking about?
Mazi Uche: or you think I don’t know. You poisoned my brother, you are responsible for all the misdeed he has been passing through?
Mum: *mtcheeew* useless old fool. If I am responsible for all the misdeeds then what do I stand to gain?
Mazi Uche: all his properties of course.
Mum: nonsense, all what you are saying his nonsense. At the count of three you better give me all the documents your boys forcefully took from our house.
Mazi Uche: or else what.
Mum: *arranging and tightening her wrapper* I said returned those documents now or else?
Mazi Uche: or else what??
15 minutes later
Mazi Uche was on the ground with my mother on top of him giving him blows upon blows.
Mazi Uche: *shouting for help* somebody please come oo. Somebody please come o before this witch will kill me o. Somebody help me o.
Our neighbours started running inside our compound one by one. They helped Mazi Uche by separating my mother from him.



My mother quickly took all the documents and entered inside our house.
Mazi Uche: nonsense woman. A whole red cap chief like me. She does not have respect for a whole red cap chief like me.
He was busy lamenting with his tattered cloth. Just then, my mother came outside with a bucket of water.
“POOOAAAA”
she poured it on him.
Mazi Uche: what!!!!!!
Mum: ok, you are still there abi. Idris, go and get me that your sharp cutlass. I will commit murder this morning.
Me: with pleasure!
I said as I dashed inside our house in search of the cutlass. I found three lying under our old wooden kitchen cabinet.
Me: hmm, which one will be sharper?
I said as I began to inspect the three cutlasses.
Me: oh, yes is this.
I said as I as I quickly picked the cutlass and dashed out of our house.
Me: mum, look at the cutlass. Where is the mazi uche na.
I asked and everybody including my mother burst into a round of laughter.
Mum: idris, abeg go and keep the cutlass joor. So you really want me to kill him.
Me: why not, let him come and touch our things again and my supernatural mum will deal with him.
All: hahahahaha.
Little did we know that we have unleashed the lion in him.
