The killers guild - Season 1 - Episode 70

“What took you so long? Can’t you do your work properly?” The chief was scolding Jeff.
“I’m sorry we came late sir.” Jeff says.
“Right this way Detective, I’ll show you to your desk.” The chief says ignoring Jeff as he leads Lance to his desk. Just then Simon and his team came in with three cuffed men. One of which Jeff recognised to be‎ squid, ‘these are the guys Lance fought earlier.’ Jeff says to himself.

Someone had informed the police about the chaos just like Lance had predicted. Simon and his team must have been dispatched to look into it but Lance had already taken care of things before they got there. Jeff was still thinking when Simon spoke.

“Lock this guys up.” He ordered his team which comprises of three people two males and one female.

“Lance Elliott meet Simon he is one of our team leaders. Simon this is Lance Elliott.”
“Hy, nice to meet you.” Lance greeted but Simon looked away and kept addressing his team.
“What happened?” The chief asked as he saw that the arrested miscreants were wounded. A fight must have broken out, he thought.
“We found this guys obstructing the road leading to the Town Hall. They were armed and they were resisting arrest so I had to resort to violence.” Simon lied. He found the men laying helplessly by the road when he and his team got there, a bystander told him that the men were obstructing the road and threatening people with their knives when one man came out and beat them all up, but Simon would rather portray himself as the hero rather than let this unknown man take all the credits.

“Wow that’s wonderful. Isn’t it wonderful?” The chief said to Lance.
“Yeah it’s wonderful, I’m impressed‎” Lance said even though he could recognise the men as well.

Jeff who was standing close to them wanted to speak out the truth but Lance winked at him, telling him to shut up.”As you can see we have very competent men in the force.” The chief continued.

“And maybe we don’t even need you here Lance.” Simon said with a scornful look.
“Maybe, but I must say those guys look like you found them laying on the road.” Lance said. Simon’s expression changes almost immediately as he said those words.
“I was just joking.” Lance quickly added as he laughed and the chief laughed with him as well, Simon was the only one who was not laughing, Jeff found this funny and he laughed as well. This annoyed Simon as he stared at him.
“What are you doing here? Get out!” Simon yelled at Jeff who hurriedly made his way out.
Just as Squid was being dragged away he saw Lance and cowered in fear. “No, no get me away from him.” He said staring at Lance with frightened eyes.

“Do you know him?” The chief asked Lance.
“‎No I don’t. Is there anything else you have to show me It’s getting quite late.” Lance said.
“Oh yeah, I just have to introduce you to everyone in each departments. Come with me.” The chief said.

Lance sighed heavily as he reluctantly followed the chief.

After several minutes of showing me around the various departments and introducing me to various officers in the station. The chief led me back to the room where my desk was.
“So i have decided to introduce this set of people to you last, because these are the people who you will be sharing this office with.” The chief said.

“Wait so I don’t get my own office? I have to share?” I asked.

“I’m sorry but I’m afraid that’s how it’s going to be.” He said.
“Okay fine.” I said.
This sU-Cks.

“Alright then, this man right here is Joseph Hart. He’s an officer and he’s also a meddler so be careful with him. This female officer is Janice Briggs, I believe you guys have met. This is officer Daniel Kent, he’s obsessed with money. This young man is Sergeant Frank Dudley, one of our best sergeants. That’s William and that’s Natasha.” He said as i greeted all six of them.
Wait so I have to share an office with six other people, this sU-Cks even more.

The chief was leaving when I called him back. “What about you?” I asked.
“What about me?” He said.
“You never told me your name so I was wondering if it’s okay if I call you by your name. Chief Scott Norris.” I said.

“How did you know my name, when I haven’t even told you yet.” The chief said as he was clearly shocked.

“Magic.” I said and the whole room laughed.
The chief then walked away and then this guy approached me.

“I love your sunglasses but I think this ones will look better on you. It’s made in Italy. I can sell it to you if you’d like.” He said showing me some set of glasses inside a box.
“Daniel right?” I said.
“Yeah officer Daniel.” He said.
Then I smiled and looked away from him as Janice walked over.

“How would you like to go out with me tonight, I can show you round the city.” She said.
“I already have a date.” I said.
In fact I now have two dates.
“How is that possible? you just got here.” She was saying when the chief came back.
“Come with me Lance, their is something I have to show you.” He said.

Aww, too bad and this pretty officer was just about to ask me out.

Scott Norris led Lance to the garage. He led him to a section where six cars were parked, a driver was standing next to each car.

“The mayor said you requested for your own personal car. So you get to choose one out of this cars.‎” Scott says.

“I’ll take this one.” Lance says pointing at a white Chevrolet.

“Great, Margaret here has the key.” Scott says referring to the female driver standing by the car.
“I don’t need any driver, I can drive myself.” Lance says.

“I’m sorry but the mayor has instructed us to get you a personal driver. Moreover the driver gets two times their current pay for as long as they work for you, and the mayor had already paid for this.”

“So the driver gets extra pay?” Lance asks.
“Yeah, the driver’s current salary would be doubled. I’m sure anyone of this drivers would be more than grateful to work for you.” Scott says.

“Hmm, grateful you say? Well in that case I will like to choose another driver, No offence Margaret.” Lance says.
“Who is it?” Scott asks.
“That guy that picked me up from the airport– Jeff. I want him to be my personal driver.” Lance says.

“Jeff? He is one of our new recruits, why him?” Scott asks.

“Cause I want him to be grateful.” Lance says with a smile on his face as he was staring at the car.

“Oh, okay then I’ll get the good news to him. One more thing you also get a personal assistant.” Scott says.

Lance turned his face towards Scott almost immediately and yelled. “NO!”
“What?” Scott asks, he was bewildered with Lance’s sudden change of reaction.
“You heard me right, I said no. I work alone.” Lance said.

“But the mayor says–” Scott was saying.
“I don’t want to hear it, I work alone.” Lance cuts in with a sharp tone.

“Why don’t you take some time to think about it? I mean you just gave Jeff the opportunity of a lifetime by making him your driver, why not give someone else a chance and take a personal assistant cause that person will also get some extra pay, just think about it for a few days who knows? You might take a liking to someone around here.” Scott says.
“Is that all?” Lance asks.
“Hun?”

“If that’s all you have to say, can I go now? I was in the middle of an important discussion when you called earlier.” Lance said.
“Well, their’s just one more thing. You ought to have met the mayor here today but he’s out of town. He’ll be back by tomorrow so you’ll meet him at his office tomorrow morning. He wants to discuss some issues with you.” Scott said.

“Okay, fine.” Lance said and walks off.
Jeff was just returning to the station from an errand.

‘Ever since i was recruited as a driver i have always been treated like an errand boy. Most especially Jack and Joe from Simon’s team those two brothers are the worst set of people in the world, They would send me on all sorts of menial errands, from buying pizzas to making coffee, and all I’ve ever asked for was to be let in on some of the actions most other drivers in the force get. I mean some real actions like chasing after some bad guys not chasing after a pizza truck. Maybe then I can even get some extra pay.’ Jeff was saying to himself as he was walking into the station, he had an x-large box of pizza in his hands which he wanted to deliver to Jack.

‎Scott walked up to him but he didn’t notice as he was deep in thoughts. “Hey Jeff.” Scott says as he was standing right next to him.
His voice jolted Jeff from his thoughts. “Oh, hello chief, sir.” Jeff says.
“I’m happy to tell you that today is your lucky day Jeff.” Scott says.
“I don’t understand sir.” Jeff says.
“Lance Elliott has chosen you to be his personal driver.”
“Wow, he did?” Jeff asks excitedly.
“Yeah, This way you get to drive him to important occasions and you’d get to meet some very influential people. Take for example, you’d get to meet the mayor tomorrow when Lance visits him.”

“Oh wow, I’ve always wanted to meet the mayor.” Jeff says feeling happy.
‎”And that’s not all as from today your salary will be doubled.” Scott says.
“Oh my goodness. Thank you so much.” Jeff says smiling gleefully.

“Don’t thank me, thank Lance. He chose you over Margaret.” Scott says.
“Wow, I didn’t know he has such a kind heart.” Jeff says.

“I think even though Lance might make himself look like a world class jerk, he is very compassionate. He must have realised that you needed the money most” Scott says.
‘Yeah, and I said some really bad stuffs to him earlier.’ Jeff thought to himself.
“Well, what are you waiting for, go on and say thank you to him.” Scott says and he walks away.

Jeff was filled with so much happiness and excitement that the Pizza box fell off his hands unknowingly and the Pizza was spilled all over the floor but Jeff was too excited to worry about it as he raced to the second floor where Lance’s office was situated.

Meanwhile Joe who was passing by saw Jeff when he accidentally dropped the Pizza and ran off to tell his brother.

“Hey Jack, that slowpoke just dropped your Pizza on the floor and then he ran off.” Joe said to Jack who he met sitting in his desk.
“Who? Jeff?” Jack asks furiously.
“Is that what you call him? I just call him slowpoke.” Joe said.

“He dropped the Pizza that I sent him? Where?” Jack asked.
“Come, I’ll show you.” Joe says as he led Jack to the spot where Jeff dropped the box.
“Oh my God, it’s all ruined. This Pizza cost Ten dollars and I’m really famished too. Where is he?” Jack said, his eyes fuming with anger.
“I saw him running off to the second floor.” Joe says.

“Let’s go Joe, I’m going to teach that idiot a lesson.” Jack says as he and Joe walked through to the second floor.
Lance was busy with Daniel who kept pestering him to buy something when Jeff came running in. He rushed over to Lance and gave him a hug, Lance shoved him away almost immediately.
“What the heck?” Lance said with a frown.
“Thank you thank you, thank you so much.” Jeff says trying to hug Lance again.
“Try that again and I’ll punch you in the face.” Lance threatened with a smile as Jeff held himself back. “Now what were you thanking me for.” He says.
“The chief told me.” Jeff said.
“Well then get to work and go buy me some coffee or something.” Lance said. “You weren’t grateful when I saved your life earlier, so I thought that you might be grateful for this.” He added.

Jeff smiled at Lance and says. “I’m deeply grateful.”

Just then Jack and Joe came in. Jack came rushing at Jeff. “You ruined my Pizza Jeff! You’re so dead.” Jack said.
“No, no Jack please I’m sorry I’ll buy you a new one.” Jeff pleaded but Jack would not have any of it.

Jack furiously raised his fist to punch Jeff in the face but Lance caught a hold of his hand before he could strike a blow.
“He already apologised, so why don’t you just forgive and forget.” Lance says with a calm voice.

“Let go of me.” Jack yelled as he tries to shove Lance away but Lance swept him off his feet and he fell to the ground.

Joe came rushing to his rescue but Lance caught him by the arm and tossed him to the ground.
“What’s going on here?” A male voice coming from the entrance yelled.
Lance looked up and saw that the man was none other than Simon. He was standing by the entrance with an angry face and a clenched fist, like he was ready for a fight.
