“Can we now go and attack, now that we are done with our WAEC?” The out-going bully declared pointing at Michael who was with his friends under a mango tree chatting and laughing.

“I am yet to recover from the previous slap, abeg count me out” the skinned albino among the trio took his bag and left, the black one followed him also leaving the bully to decide on his next line of action.

“I spent my holidays in England, I even met with the Queen Elizzy” Kennedy lied, he haven’t left the shore of the country but he had the dream of visiting England with Angela. His parents are not financially buoyant to afford tickets for his two sisters and him including his parents for England.
“I travelled to Germany to have a chat with Hitler, that is where I spent my own holidays with German chicks” they laugh at the lies, Michael didn’t say a thing. Maybe he isn’t ready to tell his friends about Zadira yet, his friends all turned to him expecting to hear where he has been throughout the holidays.


“Michael, can I see you?” Angela interrupted their jovial conversation, the advice to shun Michael and he will realize her importance didn’t change the way he feels for her.

“Look Angela, am sorry I can’t grant you audience. I won’t leave those who are my friends and go with someone who doesn’t want me close to her.” He poured out his heart withholding no words; Angela felt bad and didn’t know when tears dropped from her eyes. She loves crying that is one of her feminine qualities; she left there trying to hide her tears which didn’t stop. Michael and Bright encourage Kennedy to go after which he did it, time to reveal what he feels for her.

“Cry on this” Kennedy gave Angela his hanky, she look at him with teary eyes, took the hanky and thanked him.

“Angela, I love you so much but I couldn’t man-up to tell you. You know those poems you received from K, I was the one who drop them in your school bag. Those leaves with your name and your name on those trees in School. I am responsible for it” Kennedy rub his sweaty palms together, he is scared of her reaction.

“Thank you Ken., but my heart wants Michael” she clean her eyes with back of her palm, she love all he did. She was thinking that Michael was the one that did those things.

“You shouldn’t always listen to your heart; at times listen to your head, your heart is empty ’cause there is no one to fulfill its wishes. I don’t say you should suddenly love me but love is a journey that travels from hatred to dislike, from dislike to like, from like to emotions, from emotions to feelings and finally to love” Kennedy said softly standing up to walk away, Angela grab him by his hand and throw herself on him. They hugged a passionate huge that left Kennedy smiling like zombie.

“Why is this idiot singing?” Felicia thought, she left her bed to the sitting room to see Michael ironing he clothes, she remembered when her friend who is a teacher in the school he attend informed her that today is the day for prefect-ship interview.

“But now am daydreaming now, daydreaming, about the time we knew the lightening…” he sang sweetly not knowing that his singing was disturbing everybody, he dropped his uniform on the line and went into the room he slept in.

“Open this door, who is there?” He knocked on the door but no one answered him, Felicia had locked him inside to prevent him from going to school to be a prefect. She would have hidden his uniform but Michael can be stupid to go to school without wearing one and later painting her evil.
“Thank God, you are here” Michael jump up happily when Zadira appeared in his room, he knew she will open the door with her powers but, how she will do it he doesn’t know he just have the belief.

“No, I can’t.” Zadira said shaking her head, she felt hurt when she see how broken he was. He dropped to the floor weeping silently; his dreams of becoming Senior Prefect of the school have been crushed. How can this be happening to him now? And here his last hope just got crumbled.
“Why Zadira?”
