But that wasn’t the last of my worries, there was Jenny to taunt me. She seized every moment to remind me of what she’d told me in our jss1, and how it’d turned out to be true. Sometimes she’d send for me and would ask me to eat from her pancakes, I’d know better than accepting.

“Why? You think is not as tasty as the one your girlfriend brings? Oh I almost forgot she’s done with you so is now your ex”. She’d say and laugh, no matter how pissed I was I’d try as best not to stop smiling( Sharon once told me it makes her mad) but it seemed not to be affecting her at all because Somehow she was right Sharon had become my Ex(it was just a week to midterm and we still weren’t talking). All she has ever wanted so, why should my fake smiles piss her. I soon started avoiding her like a plague, always looking over my shoulder during break so as not to jam her but somehow she still gets to sneak up on me. I kept wondering why Jenny detested me so much until one day she somehow spilled the milk without knowing. According to her I was just nothing but a Gold-digger and nothing more, she believed I was only lurking around Sharon because I knew their parents were rich. So, I was only her friend because of the goodies She always brought, and not because I had any feeling for her. My jaw dropped the day she said this to me. I know my parents weren’t that wealthy but we weren’t poor neither, I never appeared to look hungry before so, I wondered who could have fed her with the wrong information. Who wouldn’t catch feelings for an Angel? Everybody in our class and outside was in love with Sharon. Even when they knew we were a thing, they never stopped showing her that they care. It saddened me when I learnt her reason but, somehow I refused to let it bother me, if I was a Gold-digger then her boyfriend Valentine was one too. Dude lived in my street and opposite my compound.

I had started winning back my friends somehow without apologizing to them, I guess they started getting over it. Started hanging out with the outlawz again, no Sharon to hold me back. I could tell from how she stared at me sometimes when I was with them that she wasn’t happy with it but, she never cared to tell me. I missed her so badly too but I had this heart that never submits. The headboy started frequenting seeing Sharon, both in class and outside. Sharon didn’t have to worry about my jealousy anymore so, she always gave him attention. There wasn’t cause for alarm yet but I was already freaking out in jealousy. One day I saw them walking to the tuck shop together, they weren’t holding hands but it didn’t matter to me either, I stood there watching them and wondering what they were always discussing.

“Is he asking her out? Has she said yes already”. I asked myself inwardly then two jss1 boys walked past me and one said something that caught my attention.
“So the Headboy now has a girlfriend in Jss2? Unbelievable”. The boy said and they both laughed.

“Hey you two come here”. I ordered and they ran to where I was immediately.
“Senior good afternoon”. They chorused but I didn’t reply them.

“What were you talking about?”. I asked and they shook their heads negatively.
“Is that your final answer? I just hope it is not”. I said and they both kept mute.
“Lie down”. I ordered and they did immediately. I didn’t mind the fact that we were in the open, I drew out my belt immediately as they started pleading for mercy, repeating what they said before and I smiled wickedly. I wasn’t in control of my anger anymore, it needed somewhere to pour out.

“I know, I heard you the first time but, it’s too late”. I said then raised the belt to flog the first person.

“What are you trying to do young man”. The DSP asked walking towards me quickly.
“Am sure you’re not blind”. I said to him and made to flog the boy and a Jss3 boy interfered.

“Are you insane? How dare you talk to the Dsp like that”. He yelled and I smiled at him.
“Why don’t you come closer and find out”. I said to him.

“Are you threatening me?”. He asked walking towards me then the DSP jumped in, asked him to go his way and also freed the boys. I buckled back my belt and gave him a stern look.

“You won’t be here to always rescue them”. I said and started walking away. He yelled at me to come back but, I didn’t heed then someone from nowhere kicked me off my foot and I crashed down.

“Are you mad? How dare you disrespect the DSP”. He yelled at me. I looked up and noticed it was the disciplinary prefect and he wasn’t alone, he was with two of his mates. I faked a smile and made to stand up and the other person kicked me down again.
“Come on lie down. Who asked you to stand”. He said. I looked at him and laughed then the next guy used his chemistry textbook to hit me on my face thrice then topped it with a slap across my face. Tears rolled down my cheeks, I buried my face on the floor thinking of how to take them on. It’d be a suicide mission to fight just one of them not to talk of the three, where are the outlawz now that I needed them. the DSP didn’t say or do anything, just stood at a distance and watched. I made to get up again but a loud whip from a leather belt on my back made me fall back.

“Hey that’s enough please”. A familiar voice pleaded. I didn’t need to look before knowing that it was Sharon.
“Young man let me see your face”. The Headboy’s voice asked but I ignored him. The guy with the belt lashed me again for disobeying the headboy.
“Please Senior he’s had enough”. Sharon’s voice pleaded again.
“Mind your tongue girl”. The disciplinary prefect shunned her. The Headboy asked her if she knew who I am and she reminded him who I was, then he went on to ask his mates what I did and they told him. All these while I still buried my face on the ground.
“You see your boyfriend chosed to be one of those lunatics in your class that disregards their seniors and even the Dsp. He’s just perfect for a scapegoat”. Headboy informed Sharon.

“He is your friend also remember. Please”. She begged.

She was the only reason I still la!d there with my face buried, because I was ashamed to look at her.

“I am no friend with a lunatic”. The headboy said to her. The Headboy asked me to look at him but I ignored him. The one with belt whipped me again and I groaned.
“Come on Seniors does he have to die before you forgive. Can’t you see he’s not fighting back anymore? He’s realized his mistake”. Sharon pleaded.

“Maybe you’d like to join your boyfriend here”. The guy with textbook said to Sharon. That’s when lifted my head and gave him a dead stare then buried my face again. A little crowd had gathered.

“Please Senior, if you’re really my friend then help me free him”. Sharon pleaded with the headboy and the other boys laughed at her.

“Your friend? Are you serious?”. The disciplinary prefect mocked.
“He doesn’t deserve you”. The headboy said to Sharon but she said nothing. He asked the Dsp to forgive me then asked the others to let me go and they all left. The crowd dispersed before I sat up and Sharon still stood there watching me with her arms folded. I felt like saying something to her, maybe that was what she was waiting for as we both stared at each other but I dropped my face and she sighed and left. I got up slowly and started walking into our class, my classmates were all watching me through the window even, Bully and Kelvin were there too. So they were watching all these while and did nothing, I said inwardly.
