Soon I reached the tall Gates of our school already closed. I’ve never been alone before while coming late, it was always me and my cousin whenever, however. I wondered if he had already entered school or he was yet to come, maybe I should wait for him. He always has his way through anything, I waved the thought away. What if he is already in school, it hasn’t been days we were in the principal’s office for a fight we started. Nobody would want to raise an eyebrow, well except me though. I scratched my forehead then mistakenly touched my injury and I winced in pain, I’d forgotten totally that I had a cut on my head, Sharon’s effects. I removed the bandage yesterday night before I had my bath. That moment I knew I was going to pass this gate freely today and my injury was going to be my ticket, the scratch had opened the face of the wound and i was bleeding a little.

“All things work together for good” they say, just the way it should be, I knocked at the small gate with the best pity Face I could put on. Using my left hand to cover my forehead, mere look at me you’d be convinced I was in pains. The Gateman opened the gate soon after my third knock and he kept a blank face when he saw me I didn’t know if it was a look of pity or that of wicked, I wasn’t good at translating looks then.

“You’ve removed the bandage already?”. He asked me after what seemed like an eternity of staring and I silently gave a sigh of relief.

” yes, it scratches a lot”. I lied and he smiled .

“And now you’re bleeding”. He said and I shrugged. He allowed me in then gave some of his tissue and I used to clean my forehead, thanked him and started walking to the classroom block. Few metres from my class and you could hear their noise, that Assured me that no teacher was in class. I came in through the back door like I always did, nobody saw me enter. They were all busy gossiping about me and Sharon and our new found love. Some were envious, some were excited, while some other ones were just Curious. The board was filled with my name and Sharon’s.

“SharonvsGodson latest couple”. “Godson is Sharon’s hero”
“Godson is Sharon’s knight in shining armour”. The one that finally got to me was; ” Sharon weds Godson, 2009″.
“Well, I didn’t see that coming”. I said to myself and headed to my seat. I didn’t see Sharon on her seat and I was just noticing her absence in class, good thing her bag was strapped to the back of her seat or I could’ve regretted coming to school today.
” Class guess who just showed up? It’s our Knight in shining armour, the latest lover boy in our class! Godson!!”.Melody called our classmates attention to my presence in class and they started another level of noise. Chanting “loverboy, loverboy!!”, and hitting their hands on their desks, I so loved noise but pretended it was just nuisance of them.
” where is the lovergirl?”. I said to myself as I looked around for her then, I saw Kingsley limping towards me smiling, he looked funny without his walking stick and I couldn’t just control my laugh.
“Clear road for that man!!!”. I chanted
” clear “. He replied then we had our usual handshake and hugged.

” you done with your stick already? “. I jokingly asked him and he shrugged.
” it’s really boring, trust me”. He replied and we both laughed.

“I bet it is. Good to have you back mi fellow”. I said to him and we shook hands again.

” you, the latest boyfriend”. He teased and I shrugged.
“Still getting used to it”. I said and chidimma interrupted.

” indeed you are “. She said as walked up to us smiling with her two hands in her jacket. She hit my chest playfully and waved at Kingsley, whom excused himself immediately.
” you were saying? “. I asked her smiling.
” you both have been secretly dating, just decided to let everybody know now”. She said smiling wildly and I smiled too.
“Funny enough, you are the only one that knows this”. I said almost laughing.
” that’s because am the only person that’s not really blind in this class”. She winked and We both laughed.
“Seems you’re the most excited about this why?”. I asked her.
“Seems, doesn’t mean I am. We both know the two people that are most excited here”. She said and winked at me and I smiled.
” And where is the second person already? “. I indirectly asked to cover my anxiety and she laughed.
” Outside looking for you I guess?”. She said and I sighed then walked to my seat, she followed.
“I guess am to hard to find”. I bluffed as I sat down.

” Don’t worry she’d….., well, talk about the Angel”. She said staring towards the back door with a broad smile on her face, I followed her stare and there she stood with her arms folded. She had a new hair, her lip gloss was glittering in the sunlight. The class had gone quiet as always whenever it was about us. For a while I couldn’t move as she started walking towards me then, I forcefully stood up and almost fell down to the amusement of everyone. I didn’t know what I was supposed to do so, I just hid my shivering hands in my pocket.

“Why are you panicky?”. Sharon asked as she walked closer . She always get to notice any bit of uneasiness from me. I didn’t really know why I was uneasy maybe it was the anxiety, I thought it would die off once she said yes but it grew much more.

“You’re not smiling?”. I pointed out something odd about her this morning too.
“Am I supposed to be happy that my boyfriend is quite the notorious Latecomer?”. She folded her hands as we stood face to face with that weird look on her face, my hands were still stuck in my pocket.
” Notorious, quite the word. I guess we’d have to work on it, huh?”. I said smiling sheepishly, she smiled too, then crossed her two hands around my neck. My own hands still stuck in my pocket, what was I supposed to do? Her eyes stuck in mine now.

“Yea, sure we do”. She said then threw me into a hug, finally my hands left my pocket as I hugged her back, followed by a huge applause from the class. The teachers can stall for as long as they want in their meeting, I could have this moment for life.
