Sharon - Season 1 - Episode 28

“Miriam!!”. Sharon shouted and Miriam smiled at her.

” I got the clue in the first place, I’ll be at the door “. She winked at me and left. Sharon kept staring at the door for a while, then sighed loudly and turned to me again.
” I’ve got sisters “. She said shaking her head.

” yeah, great ones at that”. I said in a low voice. I was regaining my voice slowly.
“Were you awake all those while?”. She asked referring to when I collapsed.
” maybe I was, I don’t know “.
” So, you didn’t hear anything I said back there”. I smiled inwardly at her question, was she beginning to feel shy that she was panicking in my presence.
“Well I actually heard you arguing with Miriam, did I miss something else?”. I faked being curious, and she shook her head as a ” no” but, Miriam ran in immediately.
“Oh yes, you missed the part where she was crying and confessing she didn’t want to lose you, she couldn’t do without, how you are…”. She was yet to finish when Sharon picked her shoe and chased after her.
I sat there laughing quietly. Sharon came back shortly with Chidimma, they were both smiling.
“Your girlfriend is here to see you”. Sharon said in a funny voice.

” indeed “. Chidimma said, then came and sat next to me on the bench, Sharon sat at the other side and I sat between them like a polygamous man. Chidimma viewed my head for a moment before saying something.
” Ran into another trouble? “. She said and I smiled at her. She wanted to touch the spot I was injured but I shifted back a little.
” is it that painful? “. She asked but, Sharon answered for me.

” you should’ve been here when he first arrived, that’s an evidence”. Sharon said then pointed at her white handkerchief that had changed to red because she used it to clean my head. Chidimma was shocked, she couldn’t keep her mouth closed.
“Wait, where were you all this while?”. Sharon asked her.

” I was in the class, I only knew something had happened when I saw Kelvin running upstairs, then came down with some seniors. That’s When I came outside “. Chidimma explained. I didn’t need the explanation because I know she wouldn’t hear I was in trouble and just look somewhere else, except there was nothing she could do. I knew this in our first term. When Chidimma was been sort after by everyone but she didn’t want to be close to no one in fact, she insulted guys or should I say she probably told them who they were clearly and they always see it as an insult. Everybody hated anything to do with her. We weren’t that close then but we weren’t hating on each other. One day someone wrote a death threat on her Seat. ” You’ll die before Christmas “. The person wrote.

She was so scared when she read this, she reported to our form mistress and she started flogging everybody. When she was about to flog me, Chidimma vouched for me, she swore I could never do a thing like that. And that was how I escaped that whip but it didn’t end there. Her mum started her own interrogation. She sent her to call her friends and I was the The only person she called. Her mum started using harsh words on me, she insisted I was either the person that wrote it or I knew and was harbouring the person. Once again Chidimma didn’t let her mum conclude and she vouched for me again.

“Mum Is this why you asked to see him? Of all our classmates, he is the only one I know that doesn’t have anything to do with this so, please leave him alone”. The look her mum gave me was strange, then she ordered Chidimma never to have anything to do with me again. Chidimma obeyed her mum and I on the other hand determined I’d find whoever wrote those scary words on her seat. I started sitting around our class boys whenever they were discussing. One day during break period we were going to play a match with the Jss2 class and I didn’t come with my Jersey. I went to our class to take off my jacket and shirt so, I could play with my singlet only. Getting to our class I overhead victor, the darkest boy in our class bragging, that he was responsible Of the threat written on Chidimma’s seat. I calmed down and eavesdropped as he narrated why he did it and how he did it. He even brought out the correction fluid he used to write it, which was what made it impossible to be wiped i had to use razor to scrape it off. I looked at his face and I saw him smiling satisfactorily and I remembered how Chidimma wept bitterly that day. I couldn’t hold back my anger, I ran towards him with the rage of a madman. I struck with everything I could move in my body, my hands, legs, and my head. Even though he was way stronger than I was, I didn’t mind at all. It took a while before he overpowered me, he hijacked me and hit me hard on a desk then started choking my neck, I looked at his face and saw how I had made his mouth bleed and I started smiling despite the fact that he held me tight on my neck. He raised his hand to punch me but luckily Kelvin had gotten to him, he folded Victor’s arms behind his back and flung him away. I didn’t let Kelvin have all The fun and Kelvin himself didn’t bother to ask me what happened, we just beat him like a tag team till our form mistress came. She started flogging Kelvin without asking what happened, well dude has fought twice that term so, the Lady was getting irritated by him already. Everybody had returned to class by now, the match wasn’t going to hold anymore. She was about to start with me when I screamed out loud that Victor was behind the dead threat on Chidimma’s seat, he tried to deny it but I called the few people he was telling about it, it didn’t cost anything for them to expose him. Our form mistress was speechless, so was Kelvin. Chidimma started crying, she brought out a love letter that Victor wrote to her weeks ago and gave it to our form mistress. What the poor boy went through in the hands of our form mistress that day was nothing compared to what Chidimma’s mum did to him. It even got to the extent where she locked him up in her car booth to continue when she gets home but our Principal Was Victor’s saving Grace that day. That incidence was what made me and Chidimma become close, it also changed her and she learnt to tolerate people’s behaviour.
