Pregnancy In Word 10 - S01 E11

Pregnancy in Ward 10, Episode Eleven

"I was sacked. I have been sacked. I'm now

jobless, if that is what you want to know. I was

sacked all because of you. I was just trying to

protect you. I know what I did was wrong but it

was for your own good." Roland said to Nikki

who was kneeling down to beg him. Roland was

downcast because he lost his job and he did not

know how next to sustain himself and pay his

bills. In fact, the food he had at home got

finished and he was hoping to use the salary of

the ending month to buy food and keep in the

house. However, the hospital sacked him

without pay. It is a difficult thing not to have a

job, but it is more difficult to be broke, without

job and with no food. Any man in this position

could run mad. Unfortunately, this is the

position Roland has found himself.

"Look at me, I can no longer afford to feed myself. There is no money in my account, and I have no food in the house. The little money I had, I used it to take care of you for the period you have been staying with me. And now, I have no job anymore. How am I going to survive?" Roland asked again. Nikki was still kneeling and pleading with him to forgive her for reporting him to the hospital.

"I don't know why you are begging me. Will your begging bring back my job? Will it put food on the table? Will it add money to my bank account? You have ruined my life. Look at someone I was just trying to help. I was trying to rescue you from the hands of your husband who I know to be a monster. But look at me now, I'm suffering the consequences of my kind heart." Roland lamented. He was not crying physically but inside him, he was boiling like hot water.

"If I had known, I would have allowed your husband to do what he wanted to do to you. You would not have been here today if I had allowed it to happen. Your husband did not want you to walk out of the hospital alive. One day, I caught him trying to strangle you. Since that day, I became closer to you at the hospital. Since that day, I started monitoring ward ten more closely. Since that day, he never tried it again." Roland continued to talk. Nikki was still begging with a voice that was barely audible.

"I even captured a video of him talking and saying terrible things about you. Just after he finished saying those things, he tried to strangle you and I walked into the room. Here is the video if you think I'm telling you lies." Roland said as he removed his phone and played a video for Nikki to see.

Nikki was shocked by what she saw. She saw as Duke, her husband was saying how she should die in the hospital and never return to his house. He said he was never happy keeping her as a wife. He said if Nikki refused to die, he would do it himself. He also said she was lucky to have survived the beating he gave her the night she was brought to the hospital. Nikki was alarmed. She quickly transferred the video into her phone. She knew she finally had a good evidence to have her husband arrested.

"Do you believe me now? When said I did what I did for your sake, you think I was joking? I know that what I did was wrong. I should not have touched you without your permission, but that was all I could do. Your husband is rich and powerful. If I had told the hospital management, they would not believe a cleaner reporting a rich man and accusing him of a crime. I decided to get you pregnant because your husband had said he would make sure you will suffer in his house if you make it out of the hospital alive. The truth is that I wanted him to pursue you and that was exactly what he did." Roland said.

"Look, Roland, you never explained it in this detail to me. I was sick and unconscious. I couldn't remember anything. I never knew I was beaten by my husband until today when I went back to his house. I overheard him talking about it with a new girl he had brought into the house. They planned it together and they wanted me dead so that they could have the free space to get married. It was you who saved my life. The video you just showed me confirmed everything." Nikki said. She had been kneeling down for a long time.

"Please, stand up. You can't kneel for a long time. But I want to just apologies to you because of what I did. No matter how I try to paint this to look good, it was still the wrong step. I could have found another way to fix the problem. I could have reported to the police or told Dr Mark about it. Touching you without permission was a terrible idea. Nikki, I'm so sorry for my actions. Please, forgive me." Roland pleaded profusely.

"There is nothing to be sorry about. Look Roland, I perfectly understand why you did what you did. I understand and I apologise to you for reporting you to the hospital. I didn't know that you saved my life. I will go back to the hospital and make things right. Please, forgive me. And look at the blessing I have because of your actions. I'm pregnant for twins. I consider this a blessing in disguise." Nikki said with tears in her eyes.

"There is no need going back to the hospital because I will not go back there. And I will not be living with you anymore. I'm sorry but I'm going to ask you to leave my house. I have lost my job because of you and I have no money to take care of myself not to talk of taking care of a woman with two children in her belly. Please, Nikki, you have to start going now. I'm sorry we have to end it this way." Roland said to Nikki. He was avoiding her face. Nikki pleaded with him but he was not having it. He said he was scared and he needed time to heal from the events of the past few days. Nikki packed her bags and left the apartment. Again, she was stranded in the streets.
